Keeping in mind the bread-earners who keep their carbon-footprint in mind, Chrysler introduced its Pacifica Hybrid. This new minivan vaults Chrysler from the last place into a best-in-class model. The lifeless progress of Chrysler can be wrapped up with this minivan. With another name, comprehensive inside and outside updates, and a large group of included features, the new-for-2017 Pacifica Hybrid is an aid for the sliding-door shuttle with a hybrid powertrain that keeps the cabin silent and more steady.

This is Chrysler's sixth period of the superlative child hauler, which has never been quicker, better-looking, or more fuel-efficient. Amazingly, the new van made sense of how to shed some load in its refresh while getting altogether stiffer and acing NHTSA and IIHS crash tests.

The Chrysler Pacifica is the first hybrid minivan in America and thus has created an entirely new generation of minivans that are lower on fuel consumption. It is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine along with a dual-motor and 16W battery that exponentially improves the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Combined together with the electric motor, the car produces a total power output of 260 hp and provides great performance. Thus the Pacifica Hybrid competes with the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Pricing and Features

8.0/10

The new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is available in three trims, namely, Premium and Platinum. Both the variants are equipped with the same engine and dual motor hybrid setup and provide the same level of performance. The base Premium variant in itself is equipped with most of the features while the Platinum variant takes it a step forward with the addition of driver-assistive technologies. The Premium variant starts at a price of $43,000 while the Platinum variant is $46,000. The federal tax break fives a $7,500 benefit for these vehicles and thus the starting price of both the variants drops down further.

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan Premium comes standard with a 5-inch touch screen, rearview camera, USB and auxiliary ports, Bluetooth, remote keyless entry, Stow 'n Go seating, leather upholstery, and alloy wheels. So, if you want a car for your big and happy family, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Premium is the better choice among all the trims.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Engine and Performance

9.6/10

Every 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid comes standard with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine along with a dual-motor setup that combined together gives us a power output of 260 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. That power is sent to the front wheels as standard. The engine is mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is smooth and quick to shift which provides a great driving experience.

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan is packed by one of the most powerful engines in the segment lags behind only one of its competitors and that is; Toyota Sienna which comes equipped with a 3.5L 6 Cylinder engine. The Toyota produces 296 hp and 263 lb-ft torque and is mated with 8-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Odyssey also delivers a decent power output of 248 hp and is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

How quick is the 0-60 mph acceleration of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan?

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds and that gets it tagged as the slowest car of the segment. This performance disappoints more because it is the lightest car among all and equipped with the highest displacement engine. Even though it is not the quickest on the 60 mph acceleration, it does pick up in the latter half and covers the quarter-mile in 15.1 sec.

The quickest car in the competition is the Honda Odyssey which sways up from rest to a speed of 60 mph in 6.6 seconds only. It is followed by the Toyota Sienna at 7-seconds. Even if the Odyssey is quicker by a lot of margin in the 60 mph acceleration, it does slow down in the quarter-mile acceleration and thus reduces the timing gap.

How is the Handling performance of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan?

The 2017 Pacific flaunts a pleasantly smooth and calm ride, even with the bigger 20-inch wheels indicated. The steering wheel is well-weighted, however, there is no feedback from the road on the steering. There's very little body roll around turns, and thus the vehicle maintains its balance on those curbs.

The V6 feels solid off the line if you push the accelerator pedal sufficiently far to keep the nine-speed transmission from upshifting. The transmission moves into high riggings rapidly and is reluctant to downshift when you require more power, yet upshifts aren't as herky-jerky as in those different autos.

How is the Braking performance of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan?

The braking performance of this car disappoints even more than its acceleration. It has the poorest braking in the segment. Equipped with brake discs both of which measure 13.0 inches and being the lightest in the segment, it still covers 131 ft. before coming to rest from a speed of 60 mph.

The Toyota Sienna has the smallest brakes in comparison and yet takes 2-feet less than the Pacifica which has the biggest brakes in the comparison. Even the Honda Odyssey is not that great on the braking performance, taking 127 feet to come to a standstill from 60 mph.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Fuel Economy

8.5/10

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan is the most fuel-efficient car in the competition and it ensures that you will not have to search for fuel pumps frequently when you are on a ride with your 'big engine' companion. The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan provides us with a combined fuel economy of 22 MPG which is great for a minivan.

All the other competitors provide a much lower fuel economy than the Pacifica. The Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna have a similarly combined fuel economy of 22 mpg which is far lesser than what the Chrysler has to offer.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Interior

9.7/10

Investing energy in the old Town and Country minivan is somewhat similar to hanging out at the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum — a bunch of flawless stuff to play with, yet a dated vibe is unavoidable. The Pacifica Hybrid's dashboard has a cutting edge and streaming look that is finished off by the new metallic revolving gear selector handle that looks and feels more upscale than the normal thickset minivan shifter.

Chrysler has likewise received the more open feel of the Odyssey and Sienna by taking out the T&C's customary focus comfort and rather running with an open floor between the driver and traveler. This makes more accessible stockpiling for your different belongings, and the Pacifica Hybrid currently equals the Odyssey for the best blend of cubbies, spaces, and containers. Inside material quality is high, and the controls have a strong vibe to them. In general, the Pacifica Hybrid looks and feels stunningly upscale inside.

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid seats seven people in its standard configuration and can handle up to eight if you choose the optional second-row bench seat. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, even on long road trips. Every one of the three rows is roomy and fit for seating grown-ups. However, there is a trade-off to the Pacifica Hybrid's second-and-third rows.

These Stow 'n Go seats overlay advantageously into the floor, making it simple to change over the Pacifica Hybrid from traveler van to freight hauler in a moment or two. All things considered, these seats aren't as agreeable or as movable as the ones you'll discover in rivals like the Odyssey and Sienna. Chrysler needed to make the seat cushioning more slender so the seats could fit under the floor. The Interior features include:

  • Seven-passenger seating
  • Folding/collapsible second-row Stow 'n Go seats
  • 60/40-split folding third-row seat
  • An eight-way power driver seat (with four-way power lumbar)
  • Three-zone climate control
  • A tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel
  • An electric parking brake

How intuitive is the Infotainment System in the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan?

The 2017 Pacifica Hybrid comes with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display that is easy to use. The UConnect system is available which includes navigation, audio system, and phone connectivity. The lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is disappointing but the UConnect system is not bad either. Here is a list of features available in the Pacifica Hybrid:

  • An 8.4-inch touch screen
  • AM/FM radio
  • Bluetooth
  • USB ports
  • Voice commands
  •  Uconnect Access
  • Six-speaker sound system with a USB and auxiliary inputs

How much Cargo Volume is available in the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivan?

Behind the third-row seats, the Pacifica Hybrid offers 32.3 cubic feet of luggage space. Fold those seats down and 87.5 cubic feet becomes available. The maximum cargo capacity is 140.5 cubes behind the front row. These capacities are typical for the latest batch of minivans.

Cargo space offered in Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan is the least in the segment. Although it is the biggest car in competition in terms of exterior dimensions it fails to impress when it comes to interior spaciousness and cargo spacing. Toyota Sienna, on the other hand, proves to be the car with the largest cargo space; offering 150.0 cubic feet of space when the second and third-row seats are collapsed.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Exterior

8.0/10

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has a typical minivan appearance and is nothing special in terms of design. It has followed a minimalist approach towards the exterior design which looks clean and classy. The headlamps and front upper grille are integrated beautifully with a camera integrated into the lower grille. While the front doors are hinges, the rear door slides along the length of the vehicle which provides an improved opening to get in and out of the vehicle.

Although it offers relatively less ground clearance this fact can be neglected over its other dimensions. Its closest competitor is the Honda Odyssey which measures 202.9 inches in length, is 79.2 inches wide, and 68.4 inches high. Here is a list of exterior features of the Pacifica Hybrid:

  • 17-inch alloy wheels
  • LED daytime running lights
  • Heated mirrors
  • Remote locking and unlocking
  • Push-button ignition

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Safety

9.0/10

The NHTSA has given a perfect 5-star rating to the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan in their crash test. While the IIHS has given a ‘Good’ rating for most of the segments of the Pacifica. Along with that the IIHS has awarded the Pacifica as the Top Safety Pick in the minivan category for the year 2017. Along with that, the new Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is also equipped with multiple safety and driver-assistive features which are listed as follows:

  • Airbags
  • Driver and front-passenger inflatable knee blocker
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Child Seat Anchor System (LATCH)
  • Electronic Parking Brake with Safe Hold
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Forward Collision Warning Plus

Honda Odyssey Vs Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

The Honda Odyssey is another best-positioned minivan. The Odyssey's solid engine and composed handling make it equivalently enjoyable to drive. With regards to tech and accommodation features, the Odyssey is about comparable to the Pacifica Hybrid. Both offer extraordinary rear-situate amusement frameworks and even a locally available vacuum cleaner. The basic contrast is found in the rear seats.

The Odyssey has comfier second-push seats, yet you'll need to expel these substantial seats to completely boost payload space. The Pacifica Hybrid's Stow 'n Go rear seat overlay level into the floor. Both are fine alternatives in this class, yet the Pacifica Hybrid is more down to earth, and consequently quicker witted to purchase.

Toyota Sienna Vs Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid

The Toyota Sienna separates itself from every other minivan with its accessible all-wheel-drive framework. The Sienna and the Pacifica Hybrid are comparatively fuel productive, agreeable even on unpleasant streets, and very much furnished with easy to understand tech features. You'll locate an indistinguishable trade-off once again from you with most different minivans, however.

While the second-push seats are comfortable, you need to evacuate them physically for the most extreme freight space. Generally speaking, the Pacifica Hybrid has more of an incentive for your cash and will be the pick among these two.

2017 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid Minivan Final Verdict

In the event that you've either ridden in or possessed a consistent stream of Honda Odysseys and Toyota Sienna for the duration of your life, you are pardoned for imagining that Chrysler minivans have to a great extent existed in a condition of ceaseless rental armada average quality. But those times are gone, this new vehicle is completely revamped, its dash configuration looks extravagantly auto prepared, and whatever remains of the inside offers the utility you expect in a minivan, yet with a deliberate eye on the plan. Cutting edge features incorporate dynamic journey control, an around-see camera, and even a built-in vacuum cleaner.

The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan is packed with plenty of safety techs and features. It has brilliant interior features and smartly placed control knobs and buttons. Overall, the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Minivan is a total traveling car that can accommodate a good number of people, is powerful, fuel-economical, and pays value for money.

Magnific Pacifica

Pros - Practicality, Cozy seating.

Cons - Probably the mileage, which is pretty underwhelming, from what I expected.

I think if one has no problem as far as price of the car is concerned, he should definetly buy this car, for the simple reason that it has great utility.

Pros - Red seats, noise free driving, Apple carplay

Cons - Space in third row, cargo lights, armrest

I'm not going to start by praising the fuel efficiency which is no doubt far better than my last car but still obvious for an hybrid. I'd rather take this oppurtunity to mention its smooth and noise free drive quality.

Saving on fuel means compromising on driving

Saving on fuel and getting an hybrid afterall wasn't as good of a decision as I had anticipated. It drove really went for first 1500 miles or so and then the facade of impressive built quality started to fade.
