The Chrysler Pacifica is back with the 2021 iteration and sees a major transformation as it now stands as a more modern and sleeker offering of the minivan segment. It gets quite a few notable updates both aesthetically and on the features front as well. But the most crucial one of them is the addition of an AWD system, which most of the competitors miss out on. Even with all the upgrades that the Pacifica has garnered, the price hasn't seen a drastic rise and comes in at a base MSRP of $35,045, which is just $1,000 more than the outgoing 2020 model. For that price, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with the same 3.6L V6 motor punching out 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has also been launched along with the regular gasoline-powered Pacifica for an MSRP of $39,995 and this moniker gets two electric motors coupled with the same Pentastar V6 gasoline motor. That being said, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica competes with the likes of the 2021 Honda Odyssey, 2021 Kia Sedona, and the 2021 Toyota Sienna. In this in-depth review, we will find out how impressive is the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica in comparison to the more established rivals of the mid-size minivan segment.

"The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is ready for anything your family may throw at it, from crumbs and half-eaten gummy bears to winter travel."-Thecarconnection.com

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes out with four trim options, with the base Touring trim coming at an MSRP of $35,045 and the top of the line Pinnacle trim coming in at an MSRP of $53,390. All four trims also come with the same 3.6L Pentastar V6 motor and are mated to the 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The AWD is also available as an option for the lower two trims and comes as standard with the higher Pinnacle and Limited trim.

There is also a hybrid version of the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica on offer, making it the most fuel-efficient mid-size minivan on sale in the United States. Nevertheless, both the hybrid and non-hybrid variants do come with a whole host of advanced safety and driver assistance features as standard along with an upgraded infotainment system too. The 2021 Pacifica also gets quite a few upgrades to the exterior and interior design and features list as well, making it even more competitive than the outgoing 2020 model.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Pricing and Features

8.7/10

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comprises four trim levels, namely Touring, Touring L, Limited, and Pinnacle. The Pacifica now comes with a refreshed interior, tweaked exterior design, more infotainment features, and many safety and driver assistance features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning come as standard too. The price range for the 2021 Pacific starts from $35,045 for the base Touring trim and goes all the way to $53,390 for the top of the line Pinnacle trim. However, the hybrid Pacifica comes at an MSRP of $39,995 and tops out at $50,845.

There are multiple interior packages like the Mopar interior protection package and UConnect theatre family group package, which provides more features at a marginal rate. Safety and exterior appearance packages are also present like the premium and safety sphere group and S appearance package. Since the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with all the important safety, interior, and exterior features as standard, we wouldn't recommend you to shell out more money on these packages. With the base Touring trim coming in at an MSRP of $35,045, it gets all the features like LED headlamps, a 10.1-inch UConnect 5 infotainment system, 3-zone climate control, and Apple Carplay/Android Auto connectivity.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Buying Advice

We would recommend you to get the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica in Hybrid disguise as it offers the same set of impressive features, safety tech, and performance of the gasoline-powered Pacifica. Along with that, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid showcases excellent fuel efficiency as well, making it an unbeatable champion of the mid-size minivan segment. Though the Hybrid trim is priced slightly higher at $39,995, which is about $4,000 more than the regular Pacifica, we think it is still a great value proposition. In comparison to the likes of Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Kia Sedona, none of them can match the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid in terms of opulence and fuel efficiency, however, all of them come at a significantly lower base price.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Engine and Performance

7.7/10

"It's not the quickest minivan we've tested, but the front-wheel-drive Pacifica is far from sluggish and feels plenty peppy around town."-Caranddriver.com

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with the largest 3.6L V6 motor in the segment, which is also a naturally aspirated DOHC VVT motor. This motor produces a respectable 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, putting this mid-size minivan in the same ballpark as the competitors in terms of performance. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid also comes with the same 3.6L V6 motor which is mated to two electric motors and is backed by a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica gets the Pentastar V6 motor

The 9-Speed torque converter automatic transmission is the only option available with both the hybrid and non-hybrid variants of the Pacifica which results in a smooth and fuss-free city driving experience. The power is put down through the front wheels for the base Touring and Touring L trim which comes at an MSRP of $35,045 and $38,145, however, there is an optional AWD on offer as well. The higher trims like Limited and Pinnacle comes in AWD only.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica turned out to be one of the better minivans to drive around

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica managed to do  0-60MPH in 7.4 seconds, whereas the hybrid trim does the same feat in about 7.9 seconds. Though the ones equipped with the AWD system came out to be quite grippy, the 0-60 MPH time remained unchanged from the regular FWD specced Pacifica. In comparison, the 0-60 MPH sprint time came out to be the fastest for the Honda Odyssey with 6.6 seconds, which is followed by the Toyota Sienna with 7 seconds. However, the 2021 Kia Sedona turned out to be the slowest of the lot with a 0-60 MPH time of 7.9 seconds

The unibody construction of 2021 Pacifica has been carried over and that allows for a much stable driving experience. It gets a light steering that is quick to respond and at times even makes you forget of the "minivan" that you are driving. Independent front and rear suspension allow for more flexible driving dynamics as compared to its counterparts too. The braking performance on offer from the Pacifica felt strong and sure-footed as well. But the underlying fact of it being a minivan is still felt with a considerable amount of body roll that kicks in at sharper corners and more than average nose-dive under hard braking.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Fuel Economy

4.0/10

Despite being a naturally aspirated motor, the Pentastar V6 used in the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica managed to churn out a decent 18 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, with combined gas mileage of 22 MPG. However, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid gave out an even better rating of 28 MPG in the city, 33 MPG on the highway, and a combined rating of 32 MPG, making it the most fuel-efficient minivan currently on sale in the United States.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica gave out a decent gas mileage of 22 MPG combined!

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with a healthy 19-gallon fuel tank that offers enough juice to travel for over 418 miles without needing a fuel break. The Hybrid will give out a combined range of 528 miles too, which is significantly higher than the regular gasoline-powered Pacifica as well as all the competitors.

Competition is tightly knitted on the fuel economy front as all of the minivans offer similar gas mileage as the 2021 Pacifica. Even with the marginal difference, Toyota Sienna came out last with combined gas mileage of 20 MPG which isn't a bummer as its larger 20-gallon fuel tank takes care of the range on offer. Kia Sedona, however, has the largest fuel tank and coupled with a modest 21 MPG, it can surely go more distance without stopping at the gas station.

"A new, larger grille this year is paired with striking LED lighting at the rear to cement the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica’s status as the most stylish minivan on the market."-Thecarconnection.com

The Chrysler Pacifica gets a refreshed look for the 2021 model. In comparison to the outgoing 2020 model, we find the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica to be quite a looker due to the imposing front fascia with chrome draped grille and menacing LED headlamps with neatly integrated LED DRLs. With the 2021 update, Chrysler has also managed to shove in more exterior updates in the form of new alloy wheels and a reworked rear liftgate. Even the base Touring trim which comes for an MSRP of $35,045 gets optional 20-inch Foreshadow alloy wheels and a host of other optional exterior features and packages, whereas the highest Pinnacle trim gets 20-inch wheels as standard. They also come wrapped in all-season tires.

This minivan looks quite striking inside out

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica also comes in 10 standard exterior colors along with three interior colors for the base trims. However, the Limited trim, which retails for an MSRP of $48,390 comes with a color option of black/alloy combination. Optional exterior options like Mopar Splash Guards and Mopar Protective Clear are available for an additional MSRP of $150 and $285, respectively. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid gets more subtle exterior updates like the blacked-out grille, A, B, and C pillars, and alloy wheels, all of which makes it more elegant to look at.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Safety

8.0/10

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica was awarded a 5-star rating from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave a good rating in almost all the subsections, making it one of the safest mid-size minivan currently on sale. We were also impressed by the built quality on offer, due to the construction mainly happening in high tensile steel and aluminum.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica gets all the driver-assistance features as standard

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica turned out to be an excellent proposition when it comes to safety features and tech on offer since it comes with many standard features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning, many of which only comes as an option in the competitors. The driver assistance features which were optional and trim based on the previous year moniker now comes as standard with the 2021 Pacifica as well.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Vs 2021 Honda Odyssey

Honda has also bumped up its game with the refreshed 2021 Honda Odyssey as it gets sharper styling, added technology, and more safety features. It is aggressively priced too, coming in at a base MSRP of $34,790, which undercuts the Pacifica by $500. Another main aspect is the AWD, which is even available on the base trims of the Pacifica, while isn't offered with the Odyssey even as an option. However, the powertrains on offer with the respective monikers are quite similar making the Odyssey one of the biggest rivals of the Pacifica.

2021 Honda Odyssey

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Vs 2021 Kia Sedona

Kia Sedona is in its last run of the current-gen model as the 2022 model has been revealed and will be a much-needed upgrade over the aging current-generation. However, the 2021 Sedona, despite being quite old for the segment rivals, can never be considered as a lousy option as it gets a well put together interior that is high on luxury along with all the safety features too. But it lacks notably in terms of performance and driving dynamics where Chrysler was already better and has prominently improved for 2021 as well. With the Pacifica being priced at just $1,500 more than the Sedona, Chrysler seems to be a better choice between the two.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Vs 2021 Toyota Sienna

The Pacifica faces some serious competition from the Toyota Sienna, which comes at an MSRP of $34,235, undercutting the Pacifica by close to $800. However, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica looks better than that of the Sienna, which looks quite dull and boring. Pacifica also provides better gas mileage and more features than the Sienna. Another exciting feature is the AWD on offer which is only available for the higher trims of the Sienna, whereas all the trims of the Pacifica get the AWD. However, the Sienna comes with a slightly more punchy motor along with the top-notch reliability and dependability of a Toyota.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Final Verdict

With the arrival of the 2021 avatar of the Chrysler Pacifica, this mid-size minivan turned out to be one of the best in the segment as it provides excellent interior space, impeccable ride quality, and a refreshed exterior design. With the Hybrid version being the first in its segment, the Pacifica comes as the go-to vehicle for families due to its impressive versatility on offer. Apart from that, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica also comes with updated infotainment and safety features too. With the fierce competition from the likes of Toyota Sienna, Kia Sedona, and Honda Odyssey, we think that the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica makes the most sense due to all the changes that have been received for the current model year.

Could improve the ride quality

Pros - Transmission is smooth but the ride quality is a little stiffer, chrome design, cruise control is helpful when driving on freeways

Cons - Nothing so far except ride quality

With all the flaws it has or may have, reliability of chrysler is there to back it up
