In the market where the crossover SUVs are masquerading sedans in the daylight, the recalcitrant Chrysler 300 refuses to budge. For the 2022 model year, we expect to yet again see this big-displacement four-door sedan and if we go by the rumors there is a big probability of seeing an all-electric avatar of the iconic Chrysler 300.

Speaking of design the car will be reminiscent of the decade-old design and will have few refreshed design elements both on the inside and outside as Chrysler is known to offer very little change to consecutive year model updates. With that said the rest of the characteristics will be a carry forward from the 2021 Chrysler 300. As has been the case in past years the bigger engine and red color interiors are reserved for the more powerful 300S. Overall, we can say this will be an interesting car to look at in 2022 as it is among the last few who are still standing and giving a tough competition to the likes of Chevrolet Impala, Nissan Maxima, And Dodge Charger.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 Chrysler 300 is expected to make its return for one last time, after this if rumors are to be believed then you will see your beloved 300 in an EV avatar after 2022. As for the 2022 Chrysler 300, it is expected to flaunt elegant design and iconic style, wrapped in luxury and injected with performance. The 300 will come packed with segment-exclusive features and advanced technology, including the all-new Uconnect 4C system.

Powering the 2022 Chrysler 300 will be the familiar V-6 or a V-8 engine, the latter of which is mighty powerful but guzzles fuel like a truck. Both will be mated to TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission as standard on every 2022 300 models, with all-wheel-drive (AWD) with front-axle disconnect available for Touring and Touring L models. With the 2022 Chrysler 300, the car company plans to retain its position as America’s big, bold sedan maker which refuses to die even in the face of the current mass favorite SUV and Crossovers.

2022 Chrysler 300 Pricing and Features

The latest 2022 line-up of the Chrysler 300 will get three exciting trims to choose from namely Touring, Touring L, and 300S (Reviewed Separately). Starting with the Touring trim, which is expected to be priced around $31,000 will get 17-inch wheels, a rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar support. Chrysler’s latest Uconnect system will also be available as standard which will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Touring L will be a bit pricier and is expected to have a standard V6 under the hood, 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-trimmed seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated front seats, and a security alarm.

There will also be an added Driver Convenience package, which is expected to be priced at around $1000 and will add 18-inch alloy wheels to the Touring and navigation to the Touring L trim, alongside a host of other goodies. Sport Appearance Package, Chrome Appearance Package, and Interior Appearance Package will also be available earlier for an additional cost of around $1,600, $1,700, and $500 respectively.

2022 Chrysler 300 Engine and Performance

The 2022 Chrysler 300 is expected to continue with two engine options that include Base models equipped with a 3.6-liter V6, that is capable of putting out 292 hp of power and 260 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with Chrysler’s TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission and would go from naught to sixty in just a shade above six seconds. Since the engine specs will remain unchanged from past models it could be a drawback for the buyers who will not see anything new and exciting in the 2022 model.

The Chrysler 300 will also get an optional 5.7-liter V8 that will be good enough for oodles of power with an additional 71 horsepower. This will help it put quicker naught to sixty and quarter-mile timings, though this engine will be offered in higher trim levels. And this will also be mated to the same TorqueFlite 8-Speed automatic.

The Dodge Charger is a similar car with a similar setup as the Chrysler 300 but surprisingly the 300 is one-tenth of a second quicker than the Charger in 0-60 mph run but loses out to the Charger in the quarter-mile run. Chevrolet Impala for now is the most powerful car in the comparison until and unless Chrysler gives a power bump to the 2022 Chrysler 300. While the Nissan Maxima is the winner here by putting the quickest 0-60 mph and quarter-mile time.

2022 Chrysler 300 Fuel Economy

Chrysler 300 is considered to offer a decent fuel efficiency vehicle in its range, and the figures also suggest so. It also gives a neck-to-neck competition to the topper in this segment. If we look at the 2021 Chrysler 300’s figures it managed 19 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined. Since there won’t be any change in the powertrain we expect these figures to be what you would be getting in the 2022 Chrysler 300.

When it comes to fuel efficiency you can’t beat the Japanese with that said here also the Nissan Altima wins the title of the most fuel-efficient four-door sedan among its competitors. While the Chevy Impala disappoints with the lowest figures among all. As for the Dodge and the Chrysler since both get the same powertrain the gas mileage is also the same for both cars.

2022 Chrysler 300 Interior

2022 Chrysler 300 will be coming with a very plain Jane interior design which will remind you of the 2021 Chrysler 300’s interior. The cabin features will be vintage but of decent quality. Cheap plastics will show their presence inside the cabin giving the overall interior a budget car vibe. Thus we feel the interior won’t be satisfactory for the buyers, which isn’t expected out of this American beauty.

You would for sure appreciate Chrysler's Uconnect infotainment system for its ease of use, intuitive menu layout, and snappy performance. The 2022 Chrysler 300 will get a similar 8.4-inch touch screen, that will be carried forward from the past model. Features that will be seen are satellite radio, Bluetooth, two USB ports,  Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, nine-speaker audio system, Panoramic sunroof, Power Accessory, Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and many more. Although the higher trims get many options as standard.

2022 Chrysler 300 Exterior

2022 Chrysler 300 is likely to retain the same design as the previous model. Which in our opinion has now ripe to be redone. But as we all know Chrysler since ages have been very lethargic when it comes of making major changes to its car. Although the elegance of the vehicle remains the same and will be built on the same LX platform. The 2022 model again will be offered in many colors to choose from, we hope the 2022 model year should make those red interiors available in the standard 300 too.

The 2022 Chrysler 300 will manage to be the heaviest car among the competition. Although the Impala remains the longest vehicle the wheelbase in the  300 and Charger remains the longest at 120.2 inches. However, the Impala does evens that out with the highest ground clearance of 7.1 inches

2022 Chrysler 300 Safety

The safety of each vehicle is a top-notch priority for all buyers, yet the 2022 Chrysler 300 is the one that lags in terms of safety from its rivals. We do get many features but amongst its segment, it is behind as they are all not standard. The features have been carried forward from the previous models.

The 2021 Chrysler 300 secured a decent 4-star overall crash safety rating in the NHTSA crash test. In the IIHS crash test, the 2021 Chrysler 300 came out impressively well with a good rating in most of the subsections too. However, it was not chosen as the top safety pick by the organization.

The latest Chrysler 300 is expected to come with many advanced safety features and driver assistance systems, many of which are standard in comparison to the outgoing 2021 model. This full-size sedan will come with many safety features like a Tire-Pressure monitoring system, Driver inflatable knee-bolster airbag, ParkView rear backup camera, automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert system.

2022 Chrysler 300 Competition

2022 Chrysler 300 Vs 2021 Chevrolet Impala

Unlike the 300 the 2021 Chevrolet Impala has seen some significant improvement from the past. Due to an eye-catching exterior design with chrome bars and a swooping roofline, Chevy comes off like a more modern design compared to the 300's boxy architecture. The Impala is also slightly more powerful in comparison to the base engine on offer with the 300. However, the Impala is not as spacious as the 300. Also, the Impala would be more expensive too, coming in at $36,720. So although the bow-tie does have its pros the cons weigh it down against the 300.

2022 Chrysler 300 Vs 2021 Nissan Maxima

2021 Nissan Maxima features better performance numbers and is also the lightest in the segment. On the other hand, the Chrysler 300 will offer similar power numbers but will be considerably heavier too. The exterior of the Chrysler 300 will look much more premium and imposing than the more modern-looking Maxima. The cabin of both sedans would be at par with comfortable seating and premium material selection, but Chrysler’s infotainment system would put it above the Nissan. So if you can let off the faster acceleration and fuel economy then Chrysler 300 would be the right choice for you.

2022 Chrysler 300 Final Verdict

As per the reports, we do not have much information about the release date but the production shall start from mid of 2022 or at best within its final quarter. The Chrysler 300 will be offered in 3 trims: Touring, Touring L, and S. Pricing are likely to range from $35,000(est) -$40,000 (est), which is not yet confirmed. So, if you want to get your hands on a premium-looking sedan with loads of standard amenities, promising performance, decent reliability, and spacious cabin, all at a budget price tag, the new 2022 Chrysler 300 should be on your watchlist.

Chrysler 300 for those who want to stick to old school design

Pros - "in-dash navigation, feature rich, great handle"

Cons - "No complimentary schduled maintenance, old looks"

Comfortable My Chrysler 300 packs an important feature for me which is the in-dash navigation apart from having heated side mirrors and seats which are an absolute necessity, but all had to be in my budget. It feels good to drive around in it, the well tuned suspension just adds to the comfort. Dina was just amazing and cleared all my doubts in a very professiona manner. Our sales rep recommended the AWD 300 and I now realise what a slip it would have been to get 2wd.

Classic look with modern tech

Pros - "classic looks, mannered driveability, packs good power under the hood"

Cons - Limited warranty

300 proved to be thriftier than I had expected Having an obsession with old sedan looks I chose this 300 Touring L which has plenty of features standard in addition to the peppy engine, making it good to drive staying in my budget. It is not thrifty by all means but the price tag has been very well justified. I waited for a month before finally going with the car and it proved to be worth it. Everything Gerry mentioned about the car turned out to be true. I highly recommend Jake Sweeney for your new/used car purchase

Pros - Design is great showing beautiful curves and sharp features, 8 speed automatic transmission is just handy, daytime led lights

Cons - Buttons more than touch screen options

classic touch of dashboard making it bit different in taste smooth and balanced but fuel economy is not that great in city 8.2 inch display, apple and android auto, adjustable steering led daytime lights, roof with shark fin is added touch to design, decent cargo space, tpms, anti theft controls, rear parking assist, good safety measures, good warranty, pretty much reliable, buying worthy.
