The all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe blends the contemporary truck-based SUV character with a fresh face. The redesigned 2021 Tahoe has a bigger and bolder design, more interior space (10 inch more legroom in the third row), and cargo room. Apart from the upgraded infotainment system and available family-friendly features, the Chevy boasts class-leading predicted reliability. The least-expensive 2021 Tahoe starts at an MSRP of $49,000 ($50,295 including destination) for the LS trim, while the top-end High-country costs $69,600.

Sold in six trim levels: LS, LT, Z71, Premier, RST, and High Country, the 2021 Tahoe is available with diverse engine choices, ranging from GM's burly V8s to efficient turbo diesel. With a new architecture and powerful V8, Tahoe's towing capacity improves significantly than the previous model. Like its rivals, Ford Expedition and Nissan Armada, the 2021 Tahoe finally upgrades to an independent rear suspension - translating to SUV's smoother, and more comfortable road manners. 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Buying Advice

We recommend the mid-level 2021 Tahoe RST to the buyers looking for the best value trim. At a starting price of $57,100 (MSRP), RST enhances the appearance with the exclusive blacked-out exterior design, contrast-color interior stitching, and 22-inch wheels. Chevy packs this three-row SUV with a host of desirable features including a panoramic sunroof and a fairly good Bose audio system. Adding an all-wheel drive to any trim costs an extra $3,000 (but it’s standard on the Z71 model). Moreover, you can configure RST with an efficient and torquey diesel engine.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Engine and Performance

"The Tahoe again comes with GM’s 5.3-liter V8 engine making 355 horsepower, but the powertrain has been enhanced in this all-new model. " - KBB.com

Chevy has expanded the 2021 Tahoe's engine options -  a new diesel 3.0-liter inline-six cylinder joins the two gasoline-powered V-8s. The standard 355 horsepower 5.3-liter is powerful but the available 6.2-liter V8  cranks out impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of peak torque. The Chevy Tahoe's diesel has the least horsepower but offers a whooping 460 lb-ft of torque. All the 2021 Tahoe trims are available with a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.

The 2021 Tahoe gets a choice among gasoline 5.3L and 6.2L V8, and 3.0L Turbo-Diesel.

The third diesel engine is available on all the variants except the Z71. The off-road-oriented Z71 benefits from 20-inch wheels wrapped with all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and a two-speed transfer case that provides the conventional four-wheel drive. For its large size, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe's 6.0 seconds 0-60 mph acceleration time is adequate.

For its big size, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe's 6 seconds 0-60 MPH time is quick.

Even at highway speed, Tahoe's cabin remains quiet with no noise, vibration, and harshness penetrating inside. When it comes to braking the 2021 Tahoe offers reliable feedback and firm pedal response. The Nissan Armada with its 5.6L V8 engine leads the pack in terms of horsepower while Toyota Sequoia's base engine offers the maximum 401 lb-ft of torque.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe vs. 2021 Ford Expedition

Compared to Chevrolet, Ford's large SUV has better cabin quality, and higher tow ratings (9,300 pounds). The 2021 Expedition even has a better MPG rating than the Tahoe, but that's because of its twin-turbo V6 under the hood. On the other hand, the Chevy comes with a V8. The new Tahoe takes the lead with the better infotainment system and a larger 10-inch touchscreen.

2021 Ford Expedition

In most other categories of this review, the Tahoe and Expedition are fairly comparable - Expedition max has similar passenger space as the new 2021 Tahoe. Coming at a starting price of $54,205, the Expedition is slightly more expensive than the 2021 Tahoe, which starts at $50,295. Choosing between these full-size SUVs is a matter of personal preference.

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe vs. 2021 Toyota Sequoia

Toyota's Sequoia is aging and needs a significant update. The 2021 Tahoe offers a better fuel economy, more comfortable ride quality with independent rear suspension and modern technology and interior. One thing Toyota lacks is space while the Chevy offers, even more, passenger and cargo space for the 2021 model year.

 2021 Toyota Sequoia

Rated at 7,300 lbs, the Toyota has less towing capacity than the Chevy. Though the 2021 Sequoia has higher reliability ratings and resale value, both SUVs have comparable pricing. Starting at $51,000, the 2021 Sequoia remains a secondary choice in comparison to the new 2021 Chevy Tahoe.

Compare side by side:

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe Final Verdict

Starting at $49,000, the 2021 Chevy Tahoe is more than a capable large SUV one can seek - offers multiple engine choices, best-in-class space, modern infotainment, and impressive towing capacity. For off-roading, the Tahoe Z71 starting from $59,200 is a one-stop solution.

The improved ride quality due to the new independent rear suspension makes the 2021 Tahoe a much better choice than the previous generation model and peers. No doubt it is amongst the top-selling full-size SUVs in the American market and worth putting your money on.

I don't recommend Tahoe

Pros - Spacious seating was the only good thing

Cons - Sluggish performance and poor braking response

Bad experience with its engine performance and braking The Tahoe was very good at the time of test ride and for few months after the purchase. but after few months the performance was not appreciable and the braking power was bad for an suv of this kind. I tried to rectify the issues with the help of the dealership but i couldn't, even after replacing the braking. The performance was an issue today. I was completely against the purchase of this vehicle. sale went very smooth and well. good polite team.

Pros - Fun to drive, great in winter, features

Cons - Gas mileage, the interior is of poor quality

Chevrolet... I expected better from Chevrolet. Using cheap materials in the interior was given at this price but this much is just plain unacceptable. Chevy, at least use soft material for the touchpoints instead of hard plastic. And on top of that, it is a Gas guzzler! I know good performance comes at the cost of gas, but It isn’t that powerful or fast where I would willingly compromise on mileage. Great place to purchase a vehicle!

Driving through the gas station just about every week

Pros - Space for starters, credibility, multiple storage spaces and cubby holes

Cons - Only gets subtle paint options, Not so easy to drive, turning radius, gas guzzler

Travelling with a family of five was never this easy Yes, no brainer it is a gas guzzler and isn't as easy to drive as other smaller cars Should get more paint options. Only comes with these subtle paint jobs for some reason. I wanted a Lincoln green which apparently was too much to ask for it seems Anyone behind the wheel of a Tahoe will feel that sense of power and ability to drive to remote places withiut having to worry about anything other than gas. haha Too bad the paint options are limited I'm sure it can take a pretty serious hit without getting even a scar on the body. The gas mileage is a serious no go but everything else including the built quality is pretty copperbottomed Pricing of our Tahoe is more premium than the vehicle itself Took a little while to get going actually as the process felt quite time consuming but turned out fine eventually
