We recommend

Most buyers’ checklist is fulfilled even by the feature-rich base trim. The upper trims offer some extra highlights starting from extra security components to increasingly premium highlights. We recommend the LT variant because it offers an ideal combination of great features like Bose premium audio system, forward collision alert, and great interior features like leather-appointed seats and heated front bucket seats to form the ride softer.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Engine and Performance

7.0/10

A meaty 5.3L V8 under the hood powers the Suburban and churns out a good 355 hp with 383 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes standard, but the topmost trim gets the choice of an optional 6.2L V8 engine that produces an enormous 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

The Suburban comes with a 6-speed transmission as standard, but gets an option for a 10-speed automatic with a more powerful engine within the Premier trim, together with the RST performance package.

It shares its 5.3L V8 engine with its sibling, the GMC Yukon as they are based on the same platform. The loud soundtrack from the snarly V8 feels lively, and it produces a great amount of power which makes it shine among its rivals.

When compared to its rivals, the Suburban shares its power output with its brother, the Yukon, and finishes at the last. Nissan Armada SV takes the place because it has the best amount of power output, making it the most powerful SUV among its rivals. The Expedition follows it and finishes at second place.

Acceleration-

Despite around 6000 pounds curb weight, the powerful V8 manages to churn out enough torque to get the SUV to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. The hefty SUV manages to tug itself okay. The gun feels slightly hard but is responsive. It is clear that this giant SUV isn't meant for track or drag racing. However, the SUV manages to complete the quarter-mile in precisely 15.5 seconds.

Compared to its competitors, the Suburban feels quite slow as Nissan Armada takes a second less to achieve 60 mph, due to the massive engine under its hood. The Expedition takes the second place in terms of acceleration, followed by the Suburban.

The Yukon is a tad bit heavier than the Suburban which results in comparatively slower acceleration.

Braking-

Considering the mammoth-like dimensions of the Suburban, the braking performance isn't like every sedan or sports car but manages to outperform its rivals by covering the lowest distance to reach standstill from 60 mph.

The Suburban involves a halt in only 121 ft. closely followed by the Yukon, taking just 125 ft to come back to an entire standstill. The Expedition covers the foremost distance of 133 ft to return to a halt.

Ride and Handling-

Looking at the tall size The SUV handles its weight all right and is barely felt while driving. The ride feels smooth and lightweight though,at corners, it struggles to keep up its pace at high speed in comparison to its competitors. Overall ride quality is sort of cool, smooth and lightweight and rolls very well with negligible body roll.

The steering column is sort of is soft, thereby making the vehicle easy to handle. While off-roading, the articulation within the suspension is considerable and may be felt. The cabin feels quiet and cozy while riding on the interstate. Optional RST package adds magnetic ride suspension that increases the quality of the ride even more and makes it even better.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Fuel Economy

6.5/10

massive engine coupled with humongous dimensions certainly give away the fact that this SUV is anything but frugal. However, the Suburban does give us a pleasant surprise with fairly decent fuel efficiency despite the powertrain and the size.

Be it the city roads or on the interstate, the Suburban shares its fuel economy stats with its brother Yukon. Ford Expedition is the most fuel-efficient out of the lot offering the best figures. Nissan Armada offers the lowest efficiency, so it lands at the bottom of the pack.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Interior

8.6/10

Opening the gigantic doors reveals the big and spacious seats that can accommodate up to 9 passengers with ease. On paper, the dimensions don’t do justice as in reality the SUV is very spacious feeling more roomy and cozy. A combination of well insulated interiors and spacious cabin, the ride feels really comfortable even while driving on a coarse surface.

The upper trims get some additional interior features that make the ride even more luxurious. Features like heated and ventilated front seats with heated second-row seats and even a heated handwheel, long drives are most enjoyable. Though overall the interiors are spacious, the third-row can become a touch cramped for the adults.

Infotainment-

A straightforward layout has everything lined au courant and systematically. The dash is quite minimalist with everything in reach for the driver. Also, the upper trims also get an optional rear seat entertainment system.

The standard variant comes equipped with a number of features to create the ride fun-filled and keep the occupants entertained. Standard across all trims is the 8” touchscreen together with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and other features. The LT model comes with all of those features together with a high-end Bose premium 9-speaker audio system. The PREMIER variant comes equipped with Bose Surround sound 10-speaker system together with factory fitted GPS navigation system.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Exterior

7.0/10

In terms of styling, the Suburban looks boxy and muscular that appears to be sleek despite all the bulk. An enormous SUV in terms of dimensions, makes all other vehicles look rather tiny.

This giant vehicle drive on an outsized 130” wheelbase that makes most of its rivals feel small. Owing to its larger length, the Suburban looks like a larger than life vehicle roaming on the streets.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Competition

Chevrolet Suburban LS 4WD v/s Nissan Armada SV 4WD

Nissan Armada is neck to neck with the Suburban in terms of the price, performance, features, towing capacity, and reliability. Nissan offers its SUV at a competitive price with a long feature list.

But even with all those big numbers and great stuff, the Armada lacks at cargo space and fuel economy. This decreases value and practicality as spending an additional $5000 can buy you an excellent SUV which will really perform well and tackle anything without breaking a sweat.

Chevrolet Suburban LS 4WD v/s GMC Yukon XL 4WD SLE

Based on the same platform both the SUVs are almost identical under the skin, but above, they're from 2 different brands. A synonymous similarity between the two ensues similar performance along with identical interior and exterior dimensions.

The Chevy offers 3 trims within the latest iteration of the Suburban with a 5.3 L V-8 engine as standard for all the trims. If you're searching for something which is both luxurious and affordable and produces an honest amount of power, then the 2019 Chevrolet Suburban is for you.

2019 Chevrolet Suburban Final Verdict

Luxury and practicality don’t come cheap, Chevrolet has created a black sheep in the herd with its Suburban. Chevy’s offering a plethora of features together riding on an excellent powertrain combination which makes this car a bang for its buck. There may several other rivals surpassing this car, but with what Chevrolet is offering, the Suburban really stands out.

My Suburban

Pros - Size, drive, heated seats

Cons - Back seat

This is the very best vehicle on the road, style, comfort, affordable, roomy, and classy. The gas mileage is awesome for such a big vehicle. I have seven grandkids, and I can take them all on shopping, to dinner, or on trips with comfort and ease. It is that spacious and comfortable. The handling is excellent, and it is effortless to maneuver. DVDs, wifi, heated seats, cooled seats are some of my favorites. Very roomy, with a lot of comfort and functionality. Controls are within reach and are easy to get used to. Good outward visibility also makes it safe to drive. Classy yet stylish! I like the design and styling of this car. I feel very safe driving and riding in my Suburban! The interior feels sturdy and the vehicle feels solid. I have not had any problems. Very reliable! It is a used car; I got a good deal. And it has been great, so I don't regret buying it. It was decent! Nothing extraordinary or new.
