In its last model year of its third-gen before a refreshed fourth gen appears in 2020, the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado remains unchanged. To brush across the change log though with the new model year, Chevrolet has added some extra metallic paint schemes and a new chrome and mesh insert grille-arrangement on some models. Rest everything remains very identical to the Chevrolet Silverado we have known so far. .

Overall Rating

While the leaked images and reports of the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado seem very promising in terms of overall aesthetics, the 2019 Silverado 2500 HD Regular Cab still feels very relevant. While it may not be the most polished or plush in its segment, it is skilled enough in its core aspects.

With a solid build quality and powerful V8 engines on tap, the Silverado can not only tow heavy stuff with ease, it can also conquer the toughest of terrains without any shackles. Although it is not a stitch and comfortable on the inside as a RAM 2500 or Ford F-350 Superduty, it still offers a spacious cabin and a significantly larger bed. You will have to compromise with its rider and handling though but it was never meant to be a disciplined citizen either.

Since there’s only one trim to pick for the 2500 HD Regular Cab, you don't have any other option to consider. However, if you plan buying this workhorse, it won't disappoint you for sure. Not only is it powerful and robust but also aptly loaded with everyday niceties as per its class.

Ride & Handling

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is a well-built truck with some good-looking spec sheet. Cornering is not something you would love to do with this vehicle as the amount of body-roll plagued in this truck can be fatal mostly due to the height of this vehicle.

These vehicles are designed for a new and progressive generation that sees this vehicle as a lifestyle and not like an average Joe vehicle. The transmission is smooth and performs reasonably well.

Braking

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD has 13.8 ventilated discs in the front and 14.1 ventilated discs in the back. It weighs in at 6,242 pounds and takes about 138 feet to stop from 60 MPH. Well that performance may not be outright impressive for a small car, but for such heavy beasts, it does seem okay.

Towing Capacity

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD version can tow up to 18,100 pounds but here we are testing a 2WD version which can pull 13,000 pounds. That's really good considering the fact it's not 4WD. GMC might not be a comfortable or a luxurious truck (Apart from the Denali trim) but it sure does know how to handle a hard hitting. However, with best-in-class towing capacity, Silverado proves it mettle in the heavy-duty segment and builds a rugged rapport against its competitors.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Interior

The 2019 GMC 2500HD has good interior comfort. With regular updates every year, the interior gets little Knick knack changes. 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Competition

7.8/10

Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD vs GMC Sierra 2500HD

Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are identical twins. They share almost equal exterior dimensions, engine and performance, seating and comfort, cargo space etc. They are exactly the same, just the exterior is a little different and come under different company logos. Both can tow massive amounts of loads and are very capable. The only difference is $1,000 between these two.

Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD vs Ford F-350

Ford has been producing the best-selling heavy-duty pickup trucks since decades. Ford F-350 has got a cyborg look and looks a truck that can be a transformer. Ford has some serious pedigree and heritage that proves its mettle. With an exhaustive list of safety tech, creature comfort features, it is superior to Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD in most areas. The Acceleration department is the only place where the latter exceeds but nobody buys these trucks for drag strips.

Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD vs Ram 2500HD

RAM 2500HD is a really good competition to Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD but only in terms of price and engine performance. In other spheres, GMC has a solid lead over RAM. RAM does have really good interior quality but the in terms of space inside the cabin GMC is a notch above. RAM also lags behind in towing capacity, exterior dimensions etc. Reliability might raise a question as RAM is better than GMC in after sales and longevity.

If Ram is the Hulk of the pickup trucks then Silverado is the Thor. With everything next to perfect this vehicle does justice to the bare-bone work truck concept. There are very few things you will hate about this truck as most of the things inside it is very much satisfactory.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Final Verdict

8.5/10

If you are looking for a robust and powerful pick-up truck for your commercial fleet, the 2019 Chevrolet 2500 HD Regular Cab would be a perfect fit for you. It's spacious, powerful, has very good towing and payload capacity and has a large bed as well. It even has a decent infotainment and has a rugged character as well. However, if you wish for a better style and presentation and can wait for a few times, the revised 2020 Chevrolet Silverado shall offer you much more niceties.
