Overall Rating

There have been no changes made to the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD in the engine department and it still carries the same massive V8 engine that is high on power output and thus provides staggering towing capacity. But where the majority of the changes are made is the infotainment system where it gets a bigger touchscreen along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Thus starting at a base price of $33,000 the top trim can reach up to $40,500 which is quite good for this configuration.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Regular Cab vs Ford F- 250 SuperDuty Regular Cab

The Chevy has many new features to offer compared to the Ford, which is relatively unchanged. The Silverado also comes with many options and configurations for the interior along with an updated infotainment system as well as improved digital steering. Though it doesn't come with engine, body or other exterior updates, the Silverado still impresses. With a sleeker design and a plethora of new features, the Chevy is quite better and organized than the Ford and hence is the better of the two.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Regular Cab vs RAM 2500HD Regular Cab

The Silverado has a better towing capacity than the RAM. The driving range of Chevrolet is also more as it can hold 36 gallons compared to the 31 of the latter. The Chevrolet also offers many features in its base trim level which is unavailable in the RAM base trim level. High tech features are offered in the upper trims, although RAM offers great interiors too. Thus the Chevrolet is a better car than the RAM in terms of performance, interiors and fuel efficiency.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD Regular Cab vs GMC Sierra 2500HD Regular Cab

The Sierra is the corporate cousin of the Chevrolet and is similar in most of the aspects which makes it quite difficult to compare both. They both share the same chassis and mechanicals, but the GMC Sierra looks more conservative and slightly upscale compared to the Chevrolet and hence may inch above the latter in this regard.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Final Verdict

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Regular Cab is a capable truck, with an engine offering enough power on disposal and offering good handling. The interior is not as luxurious or top-notch compared to the higher-end Crew or Extended cab trims but that is expected. The towing capacity and payload capacity are on a higher level. It also delivers an impressive fuel efficiency making it the obvious choice in the segment.
