Chevrolet introduces a mid-cycle redesign for its best-selling pickup, the Silverado lineup. The 2022 Silverado 1500 carries forward the same amount of updates that the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 brought to the table, albeit a majorly redesigned interior. Starting off from an expected price of MSRP $32,000, and with the release date set for fall of 2021, the full-size pickup will get the latest updated two-tier grille design and the new headlight design brought about in the year 2021.
The Silverado has been one of the market best when it comes to pickup trucks of the 1500 weight class. However, despite just getting a generation change in 2019, Chevy needs to revitalize its lineup to compete in this tough market. The engine choices as such will remain the same, with the 2.7L turbo inline-4 expectantly running point for the Silverado 1500 as reportedly the 4.3L NA V6 might get dropped.
One of America’s favorite pickups, the Chevy Silverado rings in a multitude of changes going into the 2022 model year, primary of which will be a newly updated 8-inch infotainment system replacing the 7-inch in the previous iteration. Having gone through a generational change just back in 2019, the 2022 Silverado 1500 again brings forth a dramatic exterior redesign in order to compete with its fierce segment. With light-duty pickups like the Ford F-150, the GMC Sierra 1500, and the RAM 1500, leading the way in terms of competition, it was high time for Chevrolet to come up with a staunch reply.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pricing and Features
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado will be getting a massive update and will reportedly have new trims join its lineup, such as the off-road specific ZR2. The same will be a more powerful ZR2 version of the Colorado that will probably derive its powertrain from the Camaro. Moreover, Chevy's previously tagged uninspired interior layout is set to get a makeover for the MY 2022. But all of this will become clearer as we get closer to the car's launch in the fall.

As there have been no updates on the feature roster that is set to come in for the year 2022, we expect the same existing bells and whistles from the 2021 Silverado 1500, that granted it its best-selling tag. Trailer-assist technologies such as the multi-function tailgate will be the highlight of this year, as it may very well be offered as a standard feature this time around.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engine and Performance
As we mentioned before, the base Work Truck trim on the Chevy Silverado 1500 loses its standard 4.3L naturally aspirated V6 for 2022. In its place, the new efficient 2.7L turbocharged inline-4 takes center stage. This engine is capable of pushing out 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque when paired to an efficient 6-speed automatic gearbox. Silverado drivers have no room for worry, as this engine is surprisingly more powerful than the previous V6.
A 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 is on offer, albeit with a Dynamic Fuel Management System unlike the active one on older units. Making 355 horsepower and 383 ln ft of torque, this engine will seem more redundant with the turbo inline-4 in the picture. The 8-speed automatic torque converter gearbox may be offered as an option this time around, now that the V6 engine is dropped. Finally, a more potent 6.2L V8 is also available as an optional engine choice, making 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, when paired to the same snappy 10-speed automatic.

The Silverado 1500’s new base engine has a clear advantage over its older base engine as seen in its sister, the GMC Sierra 1500. The boost in power is met by performance as well, as the Silverado is now quicker in reaching 60 mph from a standstill. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 will expectedly do the 0-60 MPH run in 7 seconds. Braking is expected to remain the same. The Silverado already has an impressive set of brakes, with 13.5” front and 14.1” rear rotors, helping it come to a standstill from 60 mph in 128 feet.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Fuel Economy
The now-standard 2.7L turbocharged inline 4 engine of the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 evidently has better fuel economy than the discontinued V6 engine, managing 19 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway as compared to 15 MPG and 20 MPG respectively for the V6. The 5.3L V8 loses a fraction of its city mileage because of its extra power. This powertrain is rated at 16 MPG in the city while it gets 22 miles to the gallon out on the highway.

The 6.2L V8 further loses some highway MPG and is the least fuel-efficient of the lot with 16 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway. Not only is it the most fuel-efficient pickup out there, but Chevy has also offered a segment-best 28.3-gallon fuel tank, which takes it that extra mile further without having to stop for frequent fuel stops.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Interior
8.0/10
The Silverado wasn’t the one pegged to bring about any dramatic interior changes. However, with the rise of luxurious pickup marquees from RAM, Chevy had to find an answer. The mid-cycle refresh could bring in the much-awaited interior upgrades that everyone craved for inside the 2022 Silverado 1500. Keep your ears open, there are rumors of a collaboration with Google.
Chevy trucks may well be looking at Google-powered infotainment systems and top-of-the-line voice recognition. A bigger 8-inch infotainment screen has also been spied, similar to the one in other Chevy offerings.

Quality interior improvements like a reworked cockpit are also on the way. The Silverado’s dash and center console sport a completely fresh look, and the gauge cluster is fully-digital this year. A gear selector replaces the old column shifter. Drivers will also have access to multiple interior storage options and a larger sunroof/moonroof.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Exterior
7.0/10
The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is all set for a mid-cycle refresh, which will certainly bring about some much-needed changes on the exterior front. The 2019 redesign gave the Chevy Silverado a very unique front end. For 2022, Chevrolet is revamping the front fascia to be a lot less polarizing than before. Chevrolet will integrate its latest two-tiered grille design into the Silverado.
Spy shots of the Silverado also revealed updated headlights. The rear end is also getting a refresh, with a new rear bumper. On the mechanical end, we have heard reports of the Chevrolet Multi-function tailgate being made standard for the first time in the 2022 Silverado. This move will lend it a competitive edge over its fierce rivals. Chevrolet is also expanding its color palette with new exterior paints.

Moreover, with an expected list of new wheel options, and new LED headlights, the price for the 2022 Silverado 1500 will also face a hike. Ford F-150 had an edge over its GM and RAM rivals with its lighter curb weight. Will the 2022 Silverado shed some pounds off its weight? We have to wait for an official confirmation from Chevrolet though.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety
8.0/10
Borrowing high-tech gizmo from sister cars is every automotive conglomerate’s marketing strategy. Having said that, don’t be surprised if the Silverado includes the Cadillac Escalade’s class-exclusive SuperCruise autopilot system. This autonomous driving system will be an option on the High Country trim and above, and will also have the ability to tow autonomously.
On the crash test front, the 2021 Silverado 1500 did receive a 4-star rating from NHTSA, which goes on to show that the same can be expected from the 2022 Silverado as well. The current 2021 Silverado 1500 Regular WT only includes a rearview camera and a teen driver system as standard safety tech. Other advanced safety tech like forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist will likely remain optional for 2022 as well.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Final Verdict
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is expected to have a release date set for the third quarter of 2021. The heavy-duty 2500HD and 3500HD will also have a launch around the same period. Since the Chevy is getting a major update in the interior, expect competitive pricing from the 2022 Silverado 1500 to match up to the likes of the Ford F-150 and RAM 1500.
This full-size pickup truck is only getting mild changes on the exterior front, so all that remains to be seen is whether it matches up to the likes of the best-selling Ford F-150 come the year 2022.

Chevy's work horse
Pros - Holds 28 gallons of gas, looks super hot in red finish
Cons - Could use more room, smaller wheels
Chevy's work horse is an ideal machine to get the dirty work done Ideal work truck and lot of get up and go. No issues with the cold morning starts and always cranks up real quick Wimpish wheels along with the best paint quality Quite comfortable but not the most airy interiors. I understand it's a regular truck but could have done better with the shoulder room Chevy's paint quality is no doubt amazing. We still have a long way to go to be able to answer that We call it a work horse because that's what it loves to do. It hauls and tows stuff, takes us to places, keeps us safe and entertained and never breaks down. The monthly pricing was way good to resist. Also, since it was brand new 2021 model, I couldn't see a reason not to go for it Sean is the man

Call it a blend of pros and cons. Mostly pros
Pros - Practical, good ground clearance, utility
Cons - Hard to steer around, mpg
Work truck which is what it sounds like Silverado 1500 work truck is what it sounds like, a proper work truck and no nonsense. It has what it needed for daily hauling and towing and doesn't what isn't needed. Drives safe and smooth. The handling feels a little hard at times though Needs better handling and better mpg Interiors feel spacious despite it being the regular cab. The 8' bed makes it more suitable for work. TBH, the regular cab with 8' box isn't the best combination to choose if looks are in question. Happens to be the most practical configuration but with a price of road presence Haven't encountered any problems there Great truck to get the work done Got a good discount on the total pricing and it has turned out to be one of the best deals i"ve had in car buying I knew what I was buying and there wasn't much to think about. The salesrep I worked with was very polite and respected our decision rather than pushing us for more expensive trim

Work truck does the work
Pros - Engine, cargo bed, rear camera
Cons - Lacks standard features, mpg
It is a good truck for all your needs It is very smooth and comfortable! The V6 is very impressive and equally impressive is the 6-speed automatic. They compliment each other very well, and that makes the whole driving experience great. Work truck is the cheapest Silverado one can buy, so I didn expect a lot of features in the first place. What makes a truck truly good is how much stuff can it hold both inside and on the cargo bed, and Silverado is truly good. ;) How does it look? Well, not bad actually. It is a decently attractive truck It has a good rearview camera which is very helpful particularly when reversing Everything has been good and I? very happy. The only thing I don like about it is the gas Great deal for $30k. mileage.
