The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado comes with the same EcoTec3 4.3L V6 motor producing 285 hp as standard. However, a 2.7L turbocharged motor and a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 motor are available as an option too. This Chevy pickup, with its wide array of specs and configurations, has a consumer-friendly starting price of MSRP $30,995, which is a marginal increment of less than $1,000 in comparison to the 2020 Silverado 1500. In exchange, the 2021 model gets improved towing capacity for both the turbocharged four-cylinder motor and the six-cylinder diesel engine.

With the best rating of 7.4 out of 10, use our Carindigo inventory to find out the best local deals for the Silverado 1500. Further changes to the tune of trailer assistance technologies such as jackknife alert and trailer-length indicator are added. For 2021 MY, Chevrolet also brings in a multi-function tailgate and minor infotainment updates including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Optional safety features like forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, and many more are now available too.

For the second year in a row, Chevrolet's full-size light-duty pickup truck gets a round of updates designed to add value and make it more appealing in comparison to primary rivals from Ford and Ram - Edmunds.com

The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular Cab comes with a single trim and gets a 4.3L naturally aspirated V6 motor. This Silverado 1500 along with the decent powertrain on offer is meant to get the work done, with a roster of trailer-assistance tech and a variety of bed configurations. The only setback the Chevy puts forth is its mundane interior layout which although practical does not match up to its competitors. Moreover, with the new Multi-Flex tailgate, the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular Cab is here to compete with the likes of the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500, 2021 RAM 1500 Classic, and 2021 Ford F-150 Regular Cab.

Where is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 made?

While the Silverado regular and crew cab versions are built in Silao-Mexico, whereas the rest of the Silverado lineup is built in Michigan, Indiana.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pricing and Features

7.5/10

The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers a total of six trims but the Regular Cab comes with only a Work Truck Trim (WT). The price of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular cab WT starts from $30,595 for the RWD variant and goes to $35,195 for the 4WD variant.

The WT variant comes with three engine options with the 4.3L naturally aspirated V6 motor being offered as standard. Apart from that, this truck comes with an 8" digital touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7" digital color information display, and many more as standard features too.

Apart from the standard features on offer with the Silverado 1500 Regular Cab WT, there are also many optional features on offer like 10-way powered driver's seat for $290, cruise control for $225, single-zone manual semi-automatic climate control air conditioning for $100, automatic locking rear-differential for $395, and many more too. Since this Chevy comes fairly bare-bones, it is best to stack upon these optional features. However, the price will reach close to $38,000 if you go all-in with the optional features list.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Buying Advice

Which 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 should I buy?

We recommend the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 Regular Cab WT trim (4WD), which comes for an MSRP of $35,195, as a single trim option. This is the only option you get if you want the tried and tested work truck. However, if you intend to tow well above 6000 lbs, we would recommend you to also opt for the better 355 hp 5.3L naturally aspirated V8 motor. However, in comparison to the offerings like the LT Trail Boss, and the High Country trims, the Chevy 1500 WT feels a bit spartan and basic, especially when it comes to the features on offer.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The truck's handling is surprisingly agile and the brake pedal provides firm and reassuring feedback - Caranddriver.com

The Chevy Silverado generates power from its 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine which produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. Chevy has also equipped it with an optional 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 motor producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft torque and a 2.7L turbocharged inline-4 motor producing 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque.

Is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 4WD?

The power is put to the ground through the rear wheels, however, a 4WD option is also available for an additional $4,000.

The 6-speed automatic transmission, which comes standard with the V6 and V8 motors, supplies the power hassle-free. However, the turbocharged inline-4 motor comes mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, with multiple driving modes and transmission shift control calibration.

However, the suspension was quite stiff and the ride quality on offer is mediocre at best. The steering is typical of a pickup truck with minimal feel and feedback on offer too.

Though the 4.3L V6 motor in the 2021 Silverado 1500 provided a decent grunt, it is also the least fuel-efficient motor of the lot. Moreover, with a fuel tank capacity of 28.3 gallons, it also returns a combined range of 481 miles.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Interior

7.5/10

Silverado 1500 Regular Cab offer nothing but the essentials, including manually adjustable front seats, manual locks and windows, and vinyl seats -Caranddriver.om

The 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with a full-black interior with vinyl upholstery, making it a durable work truck. Since there is only a single trim on offer, which costs an MSRP of $30,590, it losses out on many important creature comfort features. Nevertheless, you still get many features like 40/20/40 split-bench seats, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, 4-way adjustable seats, and many more as standard. The cabin space on offer with the 2021 Silverado 1500 turns out to be quite impressive.

From the stripped-down Work Truck model to the decked-out High Country, the Silverado can be configured in a multitude of ways - Caranddriver.com

The design of the 2021 Chevy Silverado is rugged and looks ready for any work condition. The WT trim of Regular Cab looks totally different from others because of its massive front grille, embossed by the huge Chevrolet badge on the middle. This model is equipped with halogen headlamps which are segregated by chunky elements. Though this truck comes with 17-inch steel wheels as standard, you can also opt for 17-inch bright silver-painted aluminum wheels for an additional $350.

What are the optional extras offered with the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

Though the Work Truck trim of the Silverado 1500 is quite basic when it comes to the exterior features on offer as standard, there are quite a lot of them provided as an option like 17-inch 265 section all-terrain tires for $395, pickup bed delete for $720, chrome wrapped front bumper for $200, soft roll-up tonneau cover for $550, and eight exterior colors to choose from.

The height of the 2021 Silverado is 75.6-inches tall which helps this truck to stand taller than the rivals. Since the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab is based on the same platform, it remains quite identical to the Chevy in terms of dimension on offer. Furthermore, apart from the features mentioned above, the 2021 Silverado 1500 does get new color options and new SE package options.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Safety

8.0/10

How safe is the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

When it comes to the safety performance of the 2021 Silverado 1500, the coveted crash testing organization NHTSA gave the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado an overall crash safety rating of 4-stars, which is quite decent for a pickup truck. IIHS also gave the truck a good rating in many of the subsections, however, it was never awarded the top safety pick title for the segment.

The active and passive safety features included in the 2021 Chevy Silverado are-

  • 6 airbags
  • Emergency braking assist
  • Hitch guidance
  • forward-collision warning
  • blind-spot monitoring
  • rear cross-traffic alert
  • lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist

Moreover, towing and trailering functions have been made easier with a jack-knife alert function, and lane-change trailer length indicator.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Competition

7.5/10

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs 2021 GMC Sierra 1500

The Silverado and Sierra carry the same specifications and dimensions because both are a division of parent company General Motors. Sierra and Silverado both carry the same powertrain and identical MPG figures as well.

But in terms of design and outer looks, the Chevy may fade a little in front of Sierra, which manages to come out as a more modern offering. Coming in at a price tag of $29,600, we feel that the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab offers more value in comparison to the Sierra.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs 2021 Ford F-150

The Ford does stand head to head with its F-150 but still, the Chevy’s Silverado has a lot to offer. Even the towing capacity of Silverado is more than the F-150. The huge fuel tank capacity actually highlights the Chevy whereas Ford F150 Regular Cab really outshines in the fuel efficiency front.

Chevy also offers more cabin space and cargo capacity too. Nevertheless, Ford has the better interior quality of the lot. Coming in at a price tag of $28,940, they are also priced quite close to each other.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Final Verdict

With an MSRP of $30,590, the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with multiple powertrain options, impeccable towing capacity, and a spacious cabin to do long hours of driving. Though it cannot be termed as the most opulent in terms of cabin space due to the poor craftsmanship and material quality on offer, it is still decent for a work truck. Hence, if you are looking for a full-size pickup truck to tow large cargos with ease, and have a multitude of feature offerings, the 2021 Silverado 1500 fits the bill perfectly.

Chevy's work horse

Pros - Holds 28 gallons of gas, looks super hot in red finish

Cons - Could use more room, smaller wheels

Chevy's work horse is an ideal machine to get the dirty work done Ideal work truck and lot of get up and go. No issues with the cold morning starts and always cranks up real quick Wimpish wheels along with the best paint quality Quite comfortable but not the most airy interiors. I understand it's a regular truck but could have done better with the shoulder room Chevy's paint quality is no doubt amazing. We still have a long way to go to be able to answer that We call it a work horse because that's what it loves to do. It hauls and tows stuff, takes us to places, keeps us safe and entertained and never breaks down. The monthly pricing was way good to resist. Also, since it was brand new 2021 model, I couldn't see a reason not to go for it Sean is the man

Call it a blend of pros and cons. Mostly pros

Pros - Practical, good ground clearance, utility

Cons - Hard to steer around, mpg

Work truck which is what it sounds like Silverado 1500 work truck is what it sounds like, a proper work truck and no nonsense. It has what it needed for daily hauling and towing and doesn't what isn't needed. Drives safe and smooth. The handling feels a little hard at times though Needs better handling and better mpg Interiors feel spacious despite it being the regular cab. The 8' bed makes it more suitable for work. TBH, the regular cab with 8' box isn't the best combination to choose if looks are in question. Happens to be the most practical configuration but with a price of road presence Haven't encountered any problems there Great truck to get the work done Got a good discount on the total pricing and it has turned out to be one of the best deals i"ve had in car buying I knew what I was buying and there wasn't much to think about. The salesrep I worked with was very polite and respected our decision rather than pushing us for more expensive trim

Work truck does the work

Pros - Engine, cargo bed, rear camera

Cons - Lacks standard features, mpg

It is a good truck for all your needs It is very smooth and comfortable! The V6 is very impressive and equally impressive is the 6-speed automatic. They compliment each other very well, and that makes the whole driving experience great. Work truck is the cheapest Silverado one can buy, so I didn expect a lot of features in the first place. What makes a truck truly good is how much stuff can it hold both inside and on the cargo bed, and Silverado is truly good. ;) How does it look? Well, not bad actually. It is a decently attractive truck It has a good rearview camera which is very helpful particularly when reversing Everything has been good and I? very happy. The only thing I don like about it is the gas Great deal for $30k. mileage.
