The Colorado pick-up is Chevrolet’s midsize truck that was designed to take on an adventure in style and make it look easy. It offers powerful engine options with efficient technologies. The rugged and strong attire fits in well with its quiet and refined interiors giving it the demeanor and versatility of a pick-up. It is one of the top choices for buyers looking for a truck that’s got the best of all worlds.

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab is expected to be announced with minor updates. Being recently refreshed for the 2021 model year, the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab is anticipated to offer new exterior colors along with slight rearrangement in features and equipment within trim levels. It is also rumored with the potential deletion of the 2.8L turbo diesel engine.

Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 Colorado is expected to rustle the same feathers it always does. As far as pickups go, the main competition is always the American greats, GMC and Ford, with a Japanese company line Toyota or Nissan making the cut sometimes. Here, the Colorado competes with the GMC Canyon, the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Tacoma.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Pricing and Features

The trim line up of the Colorado is not expected to change. In 2021, the lineup has 4 trims, priced between $27K and $43K. While the WT has a selection of bare minimum features to reduce the price of the truck to interest people looking for a professional truck, trims like ZR1 and ZR2 incorporate luxury features appealing to people looking to invest in an all rounder truck.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Engine and Performance

The 2022 Colorado will continue with the three engines offered with the current model year, but probably for the last time. The 2.5L inline-4 and 3.6L V6 gasoline motors are anticipated to continue, with the potential deletion of the 2.8L turbo diesel block

The transmission duties will be carried on the shoulders of a six-speed automatic and an eight-speed automatic transmission. While the smaller 2.5L engine will be mashed to the 6-speed, the more powerful 3.6L block will be paired to the 8-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of power, the Ford Ranger beats out its class and takes the lead. While in some scenarios, having more power does not lead to heaving the best performance, here, the Ford Ranger has the best acceleration. Despite having the same power, the Canyon and the Colorado have a considerable performance gap leaning towards the Colorado. The Tacoma makes the least power here, and performance follows.

Handling and Braking

There are almost no mechanical updates for the 2022 Colorado. The Colorado holds an above average ride quality. While at low speeds the ride seems a little agitated as most of the impurities of the road reach the cabin, spirited rides are smooth and steady. This can be attributed to the Colorado’s stiff suspension setup. Brakes here perform magnificently, stopping the daily weighted Colorado in 124 feet if travelling at 60 mph.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Fuel Economy

The standard 2.5L inline 4 engine manages 20 miles per gallon in the city, which increases to 26 on the highway making a 22 mpg combined average. The 3.6L V6 drops the economy to 16mpg and 20 mpg on city and highway respectively. The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab will continue with the capacity of 21-gallons of the fuel tank, this gives it exemplary mileage of over 460 miles combined for the Inline 4 engine.

What the ranger gains in power, it loses in range. Despite having a strong fuel economy rating, the Ranger has less overall range due to its smaller fuel tank. The Colorado manages the best range in the class despite not being the most efficient truck here. With it getting 26 mpg on the highway, it has the highest highway range of the class.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Interior

The 2022 Colorado will not be getting any updates to the interiors. In the 2021 Colorado, Chevrolet added a rearview auto-dimming mirror as standard to the LT models.

The all black interior with the cloth seats which come standard might seem simple, but the polish of the cabin makes it look exquisite. The Colorado is expected to carry forward the same amount of cabin room, which is impressive to say the least. With heated seats, a wireless phone charger and an impressive sound system, the Colorado makes sure to keep a passenger comfortable in every meaning of the word.

While the Colorado does have class leading space in the first row, the Ranger leads in the rear row, just for having the best head room. The Ranger also is able to seat more passengers than others in the class. The Rangers seem ahead in terms of interiors.

Infotainment

The Colorado’s lower trims are expected to come with a 7 inch touchscreen while the higher trims will get an upgraded 8 inch touchscreen. While the difference in size might not be much, the features and experience is. The 8 inch screen comes bundled with Chevrolet’s Infotainment System 3. It might be a boring name, but gives the exact opposite user experience. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard in with, and it also gets paired with a very impressive 6 speaker Bose audio system.

Other interior features include:

  • Heated Front Seats
  • Wireless Phone Charger
  • Single Zone Automatic Climate Control
  • Chevrolet Mylink with Infotainment 3
  • Bluetooth with Digital Satellite Radio
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • SiriusXM radio
  • A 7-inch/8-inch touchscreen infotainment system

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Exterior

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab is expected to add one or more exterior color options. It will continue with the revised front fascia in the MY2021. This includes the inclusion of a Black bowtie on the grille for the Z71 models and a “CHEVROLET” lettered grille with “flowtime” for the ZR2 Off-Road package.

Besides the 2022 Colorado with continuing with the same body style including extended cab(long box), crew cab(short box), and crew cab(long box)

Like the second-generation units of Chevy Colorado, the 2022 Colorado will continue to ride on the GMT31 XX platform shared by the GMC Canyon, Chevrolet Trailblazer, and Chevrolet and Holden Colorado for international markets.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Safety

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab is anticipated to add no new safety feature to the existing list. It will continue with the GMT31XX platform. The 2021 Chevy Colorado was awarded 4-star ratings by the NHTSA and a good rating in the IIHS crashworthiness test, and the 2022 Colorado will inherit the same safety characteristics.

The list of safety features as standard for the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab will remain the same. Thus features like airbags, ABS, driveline traction control, stability control, and side-impact beams will come as standard. While lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear parking assist, blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, etc will remain listed in the optional list for extra bucks.

2022 Chevrolet Colorado Final Verdict

The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab will follow the regular GM model year rollover sequence, hence the expected launch dates will land on or before the third quarter of 2021. While the sticker price is expected to be essentially the same, a customary marginal increase we see between two years can be expected.

Nice

Pros - Spacious, fun to drive, decent off-roading capabilities

Cons - Seats are a little uncomfortable

No complaints Colorado is a good truck! I feel that when driving, but it also feels like there is something missing. I can’t quite put my finger on it but trust me when I say this it sure is missing something. On top of that, the seats are uncomfortable and need a little more cushioning for them to be usable. I do like the simplicity of the interior though. It doesn’t have a gazillion features which no one ever uses but has the things that matter. People at Matt Saxe Chevrolet are really good when it comes to finding the car that's right for you, and they take care of everything with financing and DMV. Not only are they good at when it comes to sale but have amazing after-sales support too.

A typical draft horse

Pros - Mpg, hauling, remote tailgate

Cons - Charging on ports at the back, hard to get things out of the center armrest, head and tail lights

Needs to level up the head and tail lights for better gleam. Can't think of anything else A draft horse that doesn't ask much in return to the endless hauling and driving to places. Have a remote ez tailgate, usb ports at front and back (although ones at back only support charging), automatic headlights among all the other features which mostly came under standard package No problems but it doesn't focus much on the comfort of the occupants. Decent space in both rows and nice cosy seats and that's about it. The armrest in front row has deep storage space and it gets hard to take out things from it at times while still being seated on the driver seat For hauling stuff, it's practical and doesn't lack anything As long as we go easy on it, we've got nothing to worry about Hauls stuff, drives us to places, and keeps us entertained and comfortable. For the kind of driving/hauling we've been doing in it, I think the built quality is pretty solid and it is made to take some beating Straight forward and no nonsense. They went directly to the point and showed us trucks of our interest

Aggressive but inferior quality

Pros - Ripped design, aggressive exhaust sound, keyless entry

Cons - Frail looking plastic cabin, huge A pillars, rear camera

Maybe another trim if not another brand My new Colorado sounds much better and aggressive than anything else I've had in past. Came in with some bells and whistles but the overall quality of worktruck is and looks inferior than other trims. Rear camera is a little hazy or at least not as clear as my previous Toyota No happy with the overall quality on the inside. The comfort is acceptable but that's it. The overall design looks kind of ripped but has some shortcomings to it. For starters, the a pillars are huge and hinder the visibility on turns. Limited visibility on turns and hazy rear camera are a couple of shortcomings in terms of safety which otherwise in general is not bad Poorer than other Colorado trims. Hard plastic cabin, and looks more like an affordable truck Looking at the quality and the kind of bells and whistles it came with in this price segment, I don't think the deal value is as pretty as one would expect It was good but way too time consuming. Took two days to get approval and a couple more before we got to drive our new truck
