2021 Chevrolet Colorado Features

7.7/10

The 2020 Chevrolet Colorado comes with four different trim levels and 18 different configurations. We will surely not discuss in detail about their configurations but let you know what trim levels does it come: Work Truck, LT, Z71, ZR2. The Work Truck, being the base trim and ZR2 being the higher level of Colorado. Now talking about its features some sources have claimed that the upcoming models will have few minor changes as compared to the current year’s model.

The base trim is the Work Truck which has been priced at $25,200. The base model does come with pretty amazing features but as compared to its higher trims it offers fewer features. But, premium safety features are provided to the base trim in that price tag.

Then comes the LT trim which has been priced at $27,700. Includes some minor things are Keyless entry, power driver seats which the base does not offer.

Then comes the Z71 which has been priced at $33,800. Safety is all provided to the trim no complaint from there. Heated front and heated rear seats come as a standard option in this trim.

The higher trim is the ZR2 which has been priced at $41,600 and it has the best features on offer among the rest. There is more entertainment system available in this trim.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Here is another section where the Chevrolet Colorado has gained a plus point, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado Reliability score is 4.0 out of 5.0 which seems to be outstanding. Not only that the Chevrolet Colorado ranks 4th out of 7 for mid-size trucks, a proud moment for Chevrolet owners and the manufacturers. The model also has average ownership cost, now according to its customers, they were very much satisfied with the ownership cost of the Chevrolet Colorado.

Reliability and Ownership Costs

In that kind of price tag, the Chevrolet Colorado gives their best. The average annual repair cost is $599 that sounds average. According to J.D Power, the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado has a rating of 80 out of 100, which surely breaks down to a good quality and reliability rating is of 77 out of 100, the driving experience rating is of 71 out of 100 and its resale rating is of 85 out of 100. The values or the rating of the Chevrolet Colorado seems very interesting hoping the same for the upcoming model as well.

Warranty

For any new Chevrolet, they provide a limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. But now Chevrolet is giving an option to extend the limited warranty period to 5 years or 60,000 miles with the purchase of Chevrolet Extended Limited Warranty. Yes, that does not come without cost one needs to pay extra for that package.

Criteria

Period

Limited Warranty of Chevrolet Colorado

3 years/36,000 miles; whatever comes first

Powertrain Warranty of Chevrolet Colorado

5 years/60,000 miles; whatever comes first

24-hour roadside assistance of Chevrolet Colorado

5 years/100,000 miles; whatever comes first

Roadside assistance of the Chevrolet seems very interesting as they have already shown their specialty in their limited warranty coverage. There are many additional coverages for Chevrolet models, like for the 2018 models they will be receiving two maintenance visits within 2 years or 24,000 miles; whatever comes first.

Miles Per Dollar

Miles per dollar of the Chevrolet Colorado is $2.09 and the annual cost for 15,000 miles would be $1,529. The Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck seems very pocket-friendly when it comes to fuel consumption.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Buying Advice

Now, this is a tricky part. We know that many of you are waiting for the upcoming version to see what comes next but according to the 2020 version, we would recommend the ZR2 trim. One could also check the Z71 that is also not bad though. Yes, to get a higher trim version of the Colorado model you have to pay more than the base trims but you will get many standard features that the base trims do not have. This much we are pretty sure that the upcoming Z71 would surely attract a lot of mid-size truck lovers.

Is buying a used Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab a good idea?

There are many reasons that you could go for a pre-owned Chevrolet Colorado model. One of the biggest reasons to get one would be its V6 engine, which is very powerful. One need not worry about the towing or hauling in Colorado. The engine allows the vehicle to tow up to 7,000 pounds and haul almost 1,600 pounds in the rear bed. Sounds amazing right! Getting one of those pre-owned models will not be a problem as the maintenance cost of Colorado is average which will definitely fit into one’s interest to even get a pre-owned model.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Engine and Performance

7.3/10

As we have mentioned before, an engine is something that will attract you to get one of the Colorado models. Chevrolet will continue to carry on its 2020 model’s engine option to its upcoming version of Colorado. Each of the trims is offered in two engine choices, a 2.5-Liter Inline-4 or a 3.6 V6. But if one wants 4WD, then they have to go for the V6.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Engine

On the other hand, the transmission of Colorado is also going to be the same as the current year’s model, and that is a 6-speed automatic mated to a 2.5-Litre Inline-4 gasoline motor and the 8-speed mated to the 3.6-L V6 motor option.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab Acceleration and Braking Performance

The engine of Colorado is very powerful and its 6-Speed automatic transmission helps Colorado to go 0-60 MPH in just 8.1 seconds. The V-6 engine of Colorado makes it all feel very light and full of energy and it sprints 0-60 MPH in just 6.7 seconds. However, the quarter-mile pick-up of Chevrolet Colorado is something to look at.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab accelerate 0-60 mph in 8.1 sec

The brake pedal of Colorado feels stiff while hard braking, while it works just fine under normal conditions. It takes its corners very confidently because of its strong suspension which keeps the body roll in check. The vehicle stops from 60-0 MPH in just 124 ft.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Fuel Economy

4.0/10

Basically, we do not have to add new things here for the upcoming Chevrolet Colorado as its engine options are coming unchanged so the gas mileage will also remain the same. Colorado’s fuel economy ratings are 20 MPG in the city, 26 MPG for highway and 22 MPG combined. On the other hand, the GMC Canyon also delivers the same values as Colorado.

Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon are the same in fuel economy sections. The Ford is also no less, yes it has the least fuel capacity but mileage values are good. Just a bit disappointed with the Toyota Tacoma as it could have done better.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Interior

7.8/10

The interior of Chevrolet Colorado is flashy and eye-catching. The 2021 Colorado’s interior will remain unchanged as the current model’s one. The Z71 trim gets a cheap-looking interior with the Carbon Fiber here and there. The base trims interiors are also the same as the Z71 looks a bit cheap.

But, overall the interior of the Chevrolet Colorado is very spacious and it makes one very comfortable. The front seats are comfortable, however, the rear seats are not that pleasant.

The legroom of the Chevrolet, Tacoma and GMC Canyon is very suffocating, hope that Chevrolet focuses and brings a change in this part.

How’s the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab’s Infotainment system?

The 2021 model will remain unchanged in the infotainment system as well. A standard feature in Colorado includes an 8-inch display, updated MyLink infotainment with 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot with its infotainment system 3. It also includes a rear-view camera, Teen Driver system, lets you do things like to set the audio volume limits for secondary drivers, and also monitor their driving performance.

Now for the exterior, two premium colors can be selected that include Bright Blue Metallic and Cherry Red Tintcoat. Most of the major changes will be on the exterior of the 2021 Chevrolet Colorado. There will be redesigned grille and bumper, 17-inch aluminum wheels which will make the exterior even more attractive. Also for the 2021 model, there will be three new appearance packages.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Safety

2.0/10

Chevrolet is best for offering its safety features at a reasonable price. All the base trim of Colorado has ABS installed in it. One interesting feature is the Teen Driver Mode, which we have discussed above. Some more features include lane departure warning, forward-collision warning, rear parking assist, StabiliTrak, Traction Control and many more. We are not sure though but, we are hoping that Chevrolet will come with more safety packages with their upcoming Colorado.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Competition

7.5/10

Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab vs GMC Canyon

They are both similar pick-up trucks but with two unique personalities. The overall rating of the GMC Canyon is slightly better than the Chevrolet Colorado. The GMC Canyon comes in many trim levels.

GMC Canyon

When the Canyon is properly equipped then it can tow up to 7,700 pounds which is more than the Chevrolet Colorado.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Crew Cab vs Ford Ranger

Ranger is no average truck, it is built from very tough stuff. Here the Ranger offers a slightly larger bed than the Chevrolet Colorado when the matter comes to the overall volume. But, we do have to keep in mind that the Ford Ranger is costlier than the Chevrolet Colorado.

Ford Ranger

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Final Verdict

8.5/10

Overall the Chevrolet Colorado comes in a good price range and it offers a good amount of features within that kind of price range. The engine option of Chevrolet Colorado surely attracts a lot of customers; there are no complaints from that section of the pick-up truck. But, in most cases, the upcoming model will be remaining unchanged so that could be a disappointing part for many but it is what it is. With no upcoming updates, that does not mean that Colorado is lacking its features and offers. If you want to own any pick-up trucks then do not forget to keep Chevrolet Colorado in your list.
