Cadillac has been the essence of true American Luxury in the Automotive world. The brand has constantly strived to provide opulent interiors and ravishing styling to the common people. The entry-level luxury sedan segment is further graced by the presence of the all-new 2021 Cadillac CT4 which has the styling cues borrowed from the brands more premium products. It bears a striking resemblance to the CT5 that is priced higher. Great looks, confident drive and the true American spirit has been well captivated by the Cadillac CT4. What remains to be seen now is how the masses would respond to this spectacle with stiff competition from the Germans.

Overall Rating

Cadillac CT4 came as a fresh breeze in 2020 replacing the Caddy ATS. Since it’s still crisp in our minds, the 2021 Cadillac CT4 is not going to bomb us with significant changes. This compact luxury sedan communicates American confidence. It carries the right amount of urbanity, snazziness, and elegance while offering enough convenience features as an entry-level luxury car. Available in several trims and configurations, the CT4 stands head to head against Mercedes C300, Audi A4, and Jaguar XE.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Features

9.0/10

The 2021 CT4 is expected to arrive in late 2020 or early 2021. The company offers you many trim line-ups to choose from. You want it all basic or do you want some extra luxurious interiors or do you prefer sportier cars? You get all the versions you can choose based on your preference.

Just like the 2020 model, you will get 4 trims to choose from. These are: Luxury, Premium Luxury, Sport, V (and welcome the new Blackwing V!) The official prices have not been revealed but we have speculated the prices to range between $34500-$45000. The Blackwing is expected to be priced at $58000. The standard features are as follows:

Trim Luxury Premium Luxury Sport V
MSRP 34500 (expected) $40000 (expected) $40000 (expected) $45000 (expected)
Key Features 2.0L turbocharged In addition to or replaces, Luxury features with In addition to or replaces, Premium Luxury features with In addition to or replaces, Sport features with
8-speed automatic transmission 18" Premium wheels Sport grille 2.7L 4 cylinder turbo( Blackwing comes with 3.0L V6)

LED Headlamps and taillamps Forward Collision Alert Alloy driver pedals Magnetic Ride control
Leather seating surface Automatic Emergency braking Sports seats Performance traction management
Split-folding rear seats Windshield collision Alert Memory settings
  Cadillac user experience

While Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims feature a 2.0L engine, the V series features a 2.7L engine that is more vivacious and powerful. For 2021, the new CT4-V Blackwing is going to broaden all smiles with its 3.0L V6 engine. It will be swankier, loaded with more creature comforts and technology. It will be a little heavy on your pocket though as it is expected to be priced at $58000.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

If reliability ratings are your thing, then please know that CT4 has not been rated yet. The 2019 Cadillac CTS was however given a 2.5 reliability rating out of 5 by JD power. That average rating might come handy for reference but you should read consumer reviews for CT4 sedan for a clearer picture. The consumers have given good feedback and a 5-star rating to the 2020 Cadillac CT4. Thank you Good looks and Good rides!

When it comes to ownership, know that the more reliable your vehicle is, the lower will be your ownership costs. Fewer repairs and more peace of mind. CT4 is all new. But for your reference, know that usually an estimated expenditure of $750-$800 annually is taken for repairs of a Cadillac car.

The prices vary in US cities because of destination charges and other expenses. Our speculations say:

State

Price

Florida

$36000 (expected)

California

$37090 (expected)

New Jersey

$39960 (expected)

Yes, we know. The prices have climbed up a little for 2021!

Warranty

Warranty is like a shield. It protects you from any maintenance and repair expenses and anxiety. Cadillac CT4 gives the following warranty scheme.

Criteria

Period

Limited Warranty

4 years or 50000 miles whichever is earlier

Powertrain Warranty

6 years or 70000 miles whichever is earlier

Apart from the above, CT4 gives you one complimentary maintenance. While it is generous with the powertrain warranty, the complimentary maintenance offer does not make us too happy!

Miles per dollar

The Cadillac Ct4 is not among the most frugal sedans in the segment and with the Caddy badge it will certainly need some upkeep. Well if we consider the cost of gasoline around $2.5 on an average, the combined fuel efficiency of the CT4, 25 miles to the gallon, the CT4 would give about 10 miles per dollar.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Buying Advice

If you get Luxury trim you’ll have to splurge on additional packages. It is either Premium luxury trim or V series. Premium Luxury trim provides more driver-assist features and leather seating than the basic luxury trim. If you want performance with luxury then the V series gives you a perfect blend of both. It is athletic and plush.

Is buying a used Cadillac CT4 a good idea?

Considering that the CT4 is a fresh entry in the market launched only last year. So buying a used Cadillac CT4 would be a good idea as it won’t be too old and in fact you will even get it covered in warranty at a lower price! Now that is what you call a good deal.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Engine and Performance

8.0/10

This car is well-balanced and practical. The combination of Magnetic Ride Control and AWD (if chosen) works magically for the desired traction and stability. The ride is well-cushioned with no body-rolls and handles well on uneven roads. Steering is not numb and neither are the wheels. When your car responds well, driving is a pleasure! Super cruising is also expected to be available for 2021.

For even more agility, go for the V series. We are excited about the 2021 Blackwing test drive feedback!

What engine is under the hood of the 2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan?

All trims of the sedan except the V series are powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 which is teamed up with 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine is peppy and responsive giving the CT4 decent power figures of 237 horsepower and 258 cubic feet of torque.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan Engine

If more power is what you crave, move up to the V series trim and get a perkier 325 horsepower, 2.7L Inline-4 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both all-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive configurations are available for the trims. Blackwing V will be powered by a 3.0L V6!

The power figures of the CT4 lag behind Jaguar XE and Mercedes Benz C300 but are more than that delivered by one of our favorites, the Audi A4.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan Acceleration and Braking Performance

Dashing from rest to 60mph in just 5.2 seconds, Cadillac CT4 impresses us. This is as close as Jaguar’s and Mercedes’ sprinting figures. A quarter-mile however is covered a little slower than the Jaguar, in 13.8 seconds.

This speedy performer leaves behind Audi A4 when it comes to acceleration.

Cadillac CT4 gets Brembo front brakes which seem to understand what kind of braking expectations we have. The front rotors are 12.6 inches and the rear rotors are 12.4 inches. The disc brakes are ventilated. Drive a CT4 confidently because the baking performance is unwavering.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Fuel Economy

8.0/10

We can’t call the gas mileage poor but the figures are not very exciting either. The fuel refills for CT4 will be more as compared to the competition since it delivers a combined MPG of 25 which is the lowest in the segment.

On city roads, CT4 delivers 22 miles per gallon and while cruising through the highway this increases to 31 miles per gallon. These are with RWD configuration. When you switch to AWD the gas mileage for the highway and combined decreases a little.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Interior

8.0/10

Never overlook the power of simplicity! That’s what the interiors of CT4 are. Sophisticatedly simple and dignifiedly discerning. The cabin is very neatly laid out and the controls are uncomplicated and within your reach. Your frayed nerves will relax and surrender themselves to the moment when you lie back on the leatherette seats. Standard Active noise cancellation ensures that you keep your composure.

The LED interior lighting and dual-zone climate control will further act as mood-enhancers. The driver, apart from the joy of driving, gets 12-way adjustable seats with 2-way power lumbar support and the passengers get 8-way adjustable seats. The rear ones get a split-folding setting. The steering wheel is covered in leather too with paddle shifters.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan Cockpit Area

You can move up to Premium Luxury trim for some added lavish flavors. Another option is to get some additional packages like a cold-weather package for heated seats. In case you opt for the Sport trim, the sport seats, and overall interior looks make sure to keep that sporty spirit alive. Several interior color themes and material choices are available to suit your personality.

Talking of dimensions, while the front row space is satisfactory, the headroom and legroom at the rear end is less than the competitors and CT4 might feel cramped at the back relatively.

How is the infotainment system?

We can never doubt the Germans when it comes to technology. Can you? CT4 brims with the latest features available in any other luxury sedan in the market. The digital information cluster for the driver is dual-display reconfigurable.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan Infotainment System

The standard features of the infotainment system are:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Android Auto

2021 Cadillac CT4 Exterior

8.0/10

Take some sleekness, add a pinch of sturdiness and extravagance, sprinkle a lot of sophistication, and voila! That’s the recipe for minimalistic CT4 Sedan exterior. The design for 2020 has been well-liked and is most likely to be carried over for the 2021 model as well. That means we shall see broad and bold honeycomb pattern grille, LED headlights and T-shaped taillights, 17-inch wheels and bright-accented door handles as standard features.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Sedan

The roofline slopes down like a coupe. Just like the interior color choices, CT4 has a beautiful color pallet for exterior color options. From solids to metallic colors, they flood you with a range of colors. As you move up the trim line-up the accents get darker and bolder and you get 18-inch premium wheels.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Safety

8.0/10

In terms of safety offered by the Cadillac CT4 is reliable due to the numerous on-board measures to ensure occupant safety. However, it has not been crash-tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). But it equips you with the latest safety technology.

The standard features are as follows:

  • Approach lights
  • Dual front impact airbags
  • Automatic Braking system
  • Electronic stability
  • Traction Control
  • Forward collision alert
  • Rear child safety locks
  • Rear Park assist

Spend a little more and get yourself additional packages for more driver-assist technological features. Most of them are available as options or you get those in higher-level trims.

2021 Cadillac CT4 Competition

Although CT4 is a new entrant, Cadillac has made its place in the market and competes with big badges today. Let us see how well it manages to stand the rivalry.

Cadillac CT4 Sedan Vs Mercedes C Class C300

The engine and powertrain team of Mercedes works stronger than that of CT4. Hence more output and efficiency. Also, you say magnificence? We hear Merc. The interiors of C300 have unparalleled class. Moreover, it has drift compensation steering which gives one of the best ride and handling experiences. Reliability ratings are also better for C300 as compared to CT4. We hoot for Mercedes C300 here.

2020 Mercedes C Class C300

Cadillac CT4 Sedan Vs Audi A4

While Audi A4 makes the rear passengers happy with its legroom, CT4 prefers to impress the ones at the front with the headroom. Both are sporty enough. CT4 produces more power and sprints better. Audi A4 delivers more miles per gallon. Close call? Then look at the price tag! CT4 justifies the price better. You can still have a test drive to get the best babe for yourself.

2020 Audi A4

Cadillac CT4 Sedan Vs Jaguar XE S

Jaguar is not only more performance-focused but is also generous when it comes to space for occupants as well as their cargo. We love its ergonomics. The off-roading capabilities and maneuverability are also better for XE. Perfunctory nods for Jag.

2020 Jaguar XE

2021 Cadillac CT4 Final Verdict

8.1/10

While it may not be best in the segment, it is a spirited car for its price. Snazzy looks, modern interiors, up-to-date technology, and sporty feels. The performance is also satisfactory. It is the best-suited car for your family and everyday needs. But if you are specifically waiting for the 2021 model, there isn't much difference to look forward to. It carries the best of 2020 forward with hair-splitting tweaks here and there. Blackwing is worth the wait though! Get the V series model for a leveled-up game since it has a lot more to offer! Get rolling.
