Although the history of the Buick Enclave is not stain free, any major recalls have not been made for the latest generation of the vehicle. A recall was announced for the 2020 model year, to replace a right side frame rail for an engine component, which compromised the structural integrity of the vehicle in case of a crash. All the dealerships will replace the associated part free of cost for all the 2020 Buick Enclave. Except for this recall, no major claim has been filed by the company however, some minor or one-off issues have been reported by the customers, and they will be addressed soon.

The true ownership cost for the new Buick Enclave over a span of 5 years is $58,601. The Enclave has a very reliable engine and just giving the car regular and scheduled maintenance, the Enclave will hardly require any major repairs over the 5 years period

Warranty

Buick provides some of the most lucrative warranty schemes for the Enclave. Being one of the most loved models from the company, Buick provides a Bumper to Bumper warranty for 3 years or 36,000 miles, depending on whichever occurs first. To ace over its rivals, Buick even provides a complimentary oil and filter replacement for the first year of ownership.

Criteria

Period

Bumper to Bumper Limited Warranty

3 years /36,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Powertrain Limited Warranty

5 years /60,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Drivetrain Limited Warranty

5 years /60,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Corrosion (Rust-through) Warranty

3 years /36,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Corrosion (Perforation) Warranty

6 years /100,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Roadside Assistance Program

5 years /60,000 miles, whichever is earlier

Buick provides some of the best warranty plans in comparison to its competitors. The Cadillac XT5 however aces the segment with a bumper to bumper warranty for 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. The Buick Enclave however comes with a 5 year or 60,000 miles warranty for roadside assistance and powertrain warranty, which comes really handy in terms of ownership.

Miles Per Dollar

The maintenance cost of Buick Enclave is comparatively higher than some of its competitors. The annual maintenance costs of the Enclave can be around 31.25 miles per $1 for the first year. The maintenance costs however cannot be a fixed variable as it depends on many different factors like how the vehicle is used and driving patterns as well. However, considering that the Enclave is a midsize luxury SUV, the maintenance cost is quite efficient.

2021 Buick Enclave Buying Advice

We recommend the ‘Premium’ trim level with the All-Wheel-Drive configuration for the Buick Enclave. The trim packs mostly all the luxurious features like heated and ventilated front seats with lumbar support, heated captain seats for the middle row, upgraded premium surround sound system and many more. With a price tag of just over $51,000, the ‘Premium’ trim level holds a good value for the money.

Is buying a used Buick Enclave a good idea?

The Buick Enclave holds its value quite strongly for a midsize SUV. According to the survey, the 2019 model year is the best option in case you want to go for a used option. Being a part of the 2nd generation, not much has changed from the 2018 model year. You still get all the jingles of the second generation changes along with the best value.

The 2019 Buick Enclave retains almost 70% of its value. Buying a used Buick Enclave can surely prove to be a great deal for you. The Enclave comes with a total fitment of 12 years and buying a 2019 model year gives you almost 11 more years of usage. Considering the reliability of the vehicle, the Enclave is a great option for a used car.

2021 Buick Enclave Fuel Economy

7.1/10

The Buick Enclave is not the most fuel efficient vehicle in the segment. In the city driving conditions, the Enclave does about 18 MPG as the 3.6L V6 is not exactly designed for luxury but for better efficiency. However, to compensate for the low mileage, the Enclave comes with a 22 gallon appetite, which is highest in the segment and increases the overall range of the Enclave. By being a bit careful, you can get a combined range of more than 450 miles.

2021 Buick Enclave Safety

4.0/10

The Buick Enclave comes equipped with a plethora of safety features as standard. It even gets one of the best structural strengths in the segment and that fact is supported by a 5 Star rating from NHTSA. However, the Enclave possesses a rollover risk of 15% for the All-Wheel-Drive and 16.9% for the Front-Wheel-Drive version respectively.

2021 Buick Enclave Competition

9.6/10

2021 Buick Enclave Vs 2020 Acura MDX

The Buick Enclave is powered by a 3.6L Naturally Aspirated V6 engine, which produces 310 hp as compared to the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated V6 of the Acura. The Enclave feels more responsive to drive and feels very manageable through the city driving conditions. The Acura MDX on the other hand is more frugal than the Enclave. So in case you want a vehicle with more power and punch, the Enclave is the right choice however, in case you want more efficiency in trade off with power, the MDX might seem like the right choice for you.

2020 Acura MDX SUV

2021 Buick Enclave Vs 2020 Infiniti QX60

The Infiniti QX60 gets a smaller block than the Enclave and lower power output. However, just like the Enclave, it is well equipped and comes loaded with loads of luxurious touches like leather and maple wood. The Enclave however feels much faster than the QX60 and also feels more effortless to drive on freeways and highways.

2020 Infiniti QX60 SUV

2021 Buick Enclave Final Verdict

Since the day it was launched, the Enclave became one of the most affordable and midsize luxury SUVs. The Buick Enclave packs both luxury and performance and with a starting price of just over $40,000, it seems like a bargain. The 2021 Buick Enclave is expected to go through a major facelift for the 2022 model year, however, the current model will take forward the second generation enhancements.

Nice but overdone

Pros - Cup holders in front row and usb ports, cargo space, my buick app

Cons - 16mpg in city, hard plastic touch points, wood trim steering wheel.

8 /10 Overall Rating

The size of the Enclave has never been a problem while driving it and all thanks to the driver assistance features it has on board. Having said that, it doesn't come without issues. On papers, Buick says it gets 18mpg in city, something that has been a dream. The best I've gotten so far is 16mpgs and that must have been once or twice till now. In a nutshell, it drives nice and smooth and also takes care of the convenience but with a price, and I'm not talking about the buying msrp only.

The first thing I look for in a car is space and safety and I did the same when I test drove the Enclave. Sure looked big enough on the inside as well but I wasn't sure about the safety features. After the test drive, it seemed like a pretty good deal to let go in terms of the pricing and other aspects. We took our time, checked on internet and stuff and then went for it. Now the reason I'm writing this up is because I want you to make sure you do your research before going for Enclave, or just any other car. Just because you see a few fancy lines here doesn't mean it's going to be the best one for you. See for yourself. If I talk about my personal experience, it has a few flaws but nothing that affects the driving or ownership.

Having a big suv has its own set of pros and cons

Pros - Nice and big, keeps us warm and safe, comes handy for stowing stuff and groceries

Cons - Hard to park, no usb data ports in second row

I'm no genius here and I won't be able to tell you all if there is anything flawed. Drives good for me, keeps us warm and takes us to placed safely, good for grocery hunting, dropping kids to school and even better for sunday seldom drives. Parking it has always been a task for me though.

Nice but overdone

The size of the Enclave has never been a problem while driving it and all thanks to the driver assistance features it has on board. Having said that, it doesn't come without issues. On papers, Buick says it gets 18mpg in city, something that has been a dream. The best I've gotten so far is 16mpgs and that must have been once or twice till now. In a nutshell, it drives nice and smooth and also take...

Not the best value for money

If it's driveability without good gas mileage and premium feel, enclave is the one for everyone. Drives pretty refined and come with on the fly awd drive with pretty smooth shifts. Could have used a bigger gear stick as the one it has sits low on the center console. The glove box lately has developed a clicking sound and I was told it's possibly because of the missing teeth on either side of it. W...

Wildrice interiors

I'm an occasional driver and wanted something that would accomodate our entire family and still ave space for stuff. Pretty much got everything I asked for with a few extra upgrades. All three rows are nicely placed and airy. Steering wheel controls are provided in a perfect pattern with good size and spacing between every control. Good family hauler. The only thing that needed some getting used t...
