The BMW design language poetically uses the best words to put the X7 interiors the way they are, surely stepping up the game. Lavish, not just lavish, but it is an intriguing experience to be driven in the flagship BMW SUV. Unlike history, BMW seems to be moving away from its usual no-nonsense aesthetics with new X7’s compelling interiors.

Seating and Capacity

The luxury-three row SUV segment must be proud of the entry of BMW X7, raising the bar with a better definition of luxury and comfort. This seven-seater can be replaced with a six-seater layout, thanks to the available captain’s chair in the second-row. The 16-way power-adjustable front seats find you a perfect driving position and offer ample thigh-support for the utmost comfort. In Cold weather, the front seats will keep you warm. The high-quality material features synthetic leather upholstery for the seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Unlike the first two rows, the third row feels cramped for adults so it is better left for the young ones. Interior access is easy, thanks to the second-row sliding seats which are further complemented by the lengthened rear side doors.

The sensibly built X7 offers an expansive forward view with perfectly tailored pillars. The horizontal design and pleasant use of the material through the dash gives a lavish vibe. The X7 cabin is well insulated with no hint of noise and vibration harshness.

While all three-rows are electric-powered for automatic movements, the third row is the slowest to respond and fold leisurely. BMW provides ample optional features to get downright lavish, extras include genuine leather dressing, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. Also, 20-way power-adjustable front seats with ventilation and massaging functions are available.

Infotainment Features

For entertainment, BMW X7 comes equipped with an iDrive infotainment system that is remarkably intuitive but the first time users will need time to catch up. The multiple and redundant control options include a 12.3-inch touch-screen, rotary knobs, a touchpad in the center console along with the physical buttons on the dashboard. Responsive voice recognition comes standard as well. The available gesture control responsiveness turns out to be a bane instead of a boon for the X7 as the unintentional hand movements incite the system to respond.

The standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display comes integrated with Apple’s mirroring technology i.e. Apple CarPlay. For connectivity, a Bluetooth and Wi-Fi hotspot network cards come in-built. Navigation with real-time traffic updates, a couple of USB ports, a 10-speaker stereo system, and a quad-zone automatic climate control comes standard.

BMW has taken care of audiophiles by providing multiple premium stereo upgrades that include the available 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, standard on the top-spec xDrive50i model. The astounding Bowers & Wilkins 20-speaker surround sound system is another available option.

Key Infotainment Features:

The 2020 BMW X7 infotainment features to keep you and your family entertained and at ease have been listed for your ready reference.

  • 12- and 16-speaker Harman Kardon Stereos and a 20-Speaker Bowers & Wilkins Surround-sound system.
  • Gesture control system
  • Rear-seat entertainment screens
  • Heated and cooled cup holders
  • Proximity keyless entry
  • Push-button start
  • Quad-zone automatic climate control
  • The wireless smartphone charging pad
  • 12.3-inch iDrive infotainment system
  • Apple Carplay
  • Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth connectivity
  • Satellite Radio
  • Wireless charging pad

Cargo Capacity

When it comes to the cargo area behind the third row, X7 turns blind-eye with space for only two carry-on bags and not much else. Don’t think of hauling a full family with a load of junk. However, there is a sizeable bin underneath the load floor, which still may remain unavailable in case you opt for an extra tire.

With a touch of a button, the seatbacks fold flat to enlighten the cargo with a room of 48.6 cubic-feet and up to first-row space with all seats flat the cargo tops the maximum limit of 90.4 cubic-feet which is reasonable.

Absolutely the best interior ever in any car I have driven! The seats are the most comfortable and they are power adjustable unlocking a lot of adjustment which in turn makes it easy to find the best seating position.

Perfectly spaced 7 seater with a tons of space for cargo. All the seats are comfortable enough for those long cruise nights and even better for daily commuting.

I don't appreciate so many buttons on the steering wheel that leaves me sitting there like a child thinking what to do. A minor complaint where everything else is flawless. Touch screen, comfortable seats, center console, and front trim

BMW X7

Drives like a normal SUV when in town but when on the freeway it absolutely flies! Could not have asked for a better SUV than BMW X7. It is FUN, capable, practical, and comfortable. The ride quality is smooth and so is the power delivery.

BMW X7 is a symbol of class with performance

Decently designed powertrain and well executed drivetrain. The refined engine produces max torque at low rpms where it gets going with minimum foot weight on the pedal. Not an exception for impeccable acceleration as well and does a pretty good job in quater mile-ish sprints.

A wrong step there

So the very first thing that lets a driver ease up while driving are those run flat tires thereby giving a sense of safety. Apart from that, bmw's are supposed to be good when the question is driving and this one is no different. I however think they stepped in an unknown territory with the offroading package that adds a few dedicated equipment and features but lacks that factor of robustness. Dri...
