Overall Rating

There is no denying that the Audi S7 Sportback is quite a luxury, handsome and sporty car. It is for those who want a sportier driving experience, especially when compared to the regular A7. With its 444-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine the S7 Sportsback is capable of pushing you back into your seats and offer some track-focused gizmos. It also offers high-tech features and is considered quite a sophisticated machine. While being high-tech it also remains quite practical.

The rivals which compete with Audi S7 are Mercedes-AMG CLS 53, Porsche Panamera, and Maserati Ghibli S. Here’s our take on the 2021 Audi S7 Sportback that is soon going to be on sale in the market.

2021 Audi S7 Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

Audi is known for providing luxury and sportiness in its cars and the S7 fulfills all the expectations of the customer. The cabin is filled with luxury and premium materials that pull the attention of buyers. The J D Power has not yet rated the 2020 Audi S7. This German reptile always stands ahead in terms of reliability.

Reliability and Ownership Costs

Audi never falls back and has maintained its fame from the past few years. There is not enough data according to which the Audi S7 can be rated for its reliability. But most Audi models carry a predicted reliability score of 3 out of 5. Audi is consistently serving their customer by availing satisfaction with premium quality materials and powerful performance.

On average, the cost of the Audi S7 is around $84,300. But due to differences in taxation, the prices do differ. In Washington, the price of S7 is around $86,500, wherein Arizona, Florida, California, and New Jersey will differ.

Washington

$86,500

Florida

$83,600

California

$82,800

New Jersey

$81,950

Arizona

$84,650

In terms of safety, Audi S7 carries some features to keep the drive safe. NHTSA has not yet rated Audi S7. In 2018, just one recall was recorded by NHTSA. Safety features like Audi Pre-sense 360, Audi adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, and emergency assist increase the rider and passengers' safety.

In terms of the ownership cost, on average, the S7 will pull $115,458 in 5 years if you buy a brand new Audi S7. The cost is surely too high, the buyer should have to keep the pockets full to buy this sporty sedan.

The Audi S7 Sportback is considered a sophisticated yet reliable machine. It offers quite a practical as well as a dependable driving experience. However, due to state-of-the-art technology, the maintenance, and the repair costs are not at all on the cheaper side. We recommend you to take the extended warranty package that Audi offers at an additional cost. As German automakers are not known to offer cheap services or maintenance, the Audi S7 Sportback is no different in that respect.

Warranty

Audi provides a decent and competitive period in terms of powertrain and limited warranty. The limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles and the powertrain warranty covers the same 4 years or 50,000 miles. The rivals have more period plans for complimentary scheduled warranty than Audi’s one-year coverage.

Criteria

Period

Limited warranty

Four years/ 50,000 miles; whichever is earlier

Powertrain warranty

Four years/ 50,000 miles; whichever is earlier

24-hour roadside assistance

365 days/ 10,000 miles; whichever is earlier

Limited and Powertrain warranty coverage is almost the same as the warranty period offered by the rivals. But the complimentary scheduled maintenance of the Audi is limited and less than the rivals. Just 365 days of coverage seems to be less for such a premium car.

Miles Per Dollar

If we consider BMW's base model 530i, then it delivers an mpg of 28 combined (city/highway). The average US gas price in recent times has been around $2.53 per gallon. Factoring in these numbers, the MPD figure for the 530i is an impressive 11.07, which means that you can travel for 11.07 miles for $1 in your 530i.

2021 Audi S7 Buying Advice

The budget won’t be a problem when someone is looking for a premium range of vehicles. So, by paying some extra bucks, one should go for Prestige trim. The Prestige trim offers a lot of premium features which one is looking for in the premium segment.

The cabin of S7 will provide you comfort and if you are sport driven then this car also provides great performance with an alluring engine under the hood. The 2.9L twin-turbo V6 is driven by 8-speed automatic transmission through AWD drivetrain. Audi S7 can be termed as a decent combination of sporty dimensions and luxury.

Is buying a used Audi S7 a good idea?

Audi’s S7 comes out with better technology features with every update. It depends on the personal choice to buy a used or new with all the latest tech. If just buying a premium brand is your purpose and the technology update is not your concern, then a used car will be suitable for you.

If you buy the models which were launched before 2019, then some of the features will be missed. The used car will cost you less and helps you save a few bucks. So in terms of a premium brand, it depends on your personal choice.

2021 Audi S7 Engine and Performance

8.0/10

The sporty sedan S7 is equipped with a 2.9L Twin Turbo V6 engine which produces great power and torque. It churns out 444 hp power and 443lb-ft torque. The 8-speed automatic transmission transmits power from the engine to the wheels. The noise made by the V6 motor is really music to your ear from the start of its performance. It comes with a standard AWD drivetrain and RWD is not present for any trim.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback is powered by a 2.9L V6 accompanied by a mild-hybrid system

The Audi S7 has the best specification of the engine in this segment. It offers a proper sporty experience and once you are behind the wheel there is no getting away from all the tech on offer which makes you feel like a dedicated track driver. The engine and the gearbox work in perfect tandem to offer quick shifts and proper power delivery. Once you put the car in sports mode, it adjusts a million settings to offer you the taste of Audi’s sportiness. The power remains up until the red line and the S7 Sportback can easily pull off quick overtakes over the highway. Overall, the V6 engine is quite refined but yet sporty.

The Audi S7 with a 2.9L twin-turbo v6 engine produces massive power and torque which rivals can’t. Audi, Mercedes, and Maserati come with the AWD option where Porsche offers RWD only. Porsche stands last in terms of power. The Audi S7 is the clear winner with its class-leading performance.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback Acceleration And Braking Performance

The sporty sedan Audi S7 is great in acceleration and both the trims perform quite decent in acceleration. It completes a 0-60 mph flag in 4.5 secs and the quarter-mile flag is completed in 12.5 secs. This record is impressive for a sedan.

2021 Audi S7 Sportback Accelerate from 0-60 MPH in 4.5 sec

The top speed of S7 reaches 155 mph. With the great aesthetic body, it manages to break in a shorter time. From 60-0 mph it just stops in 109 ft. equipped with a front brake of 15.7 inches and rear brakes of 13.8 inches. Even though the numbers are not the best in its class, they are quite comparable.

Audi S7 is powerful with the engine but in terms of acceleration, it starts a bit slower than rivals. The Porsche Panamera stands out to be the swiftest among rivals. Completing 0-60 mph in just 3.8 secs is just jaw-dropping performance. All other competitors try to cover this range between 4-5 secs but Porsche completes it before 4 secs. Even in the braking terms again the Porsche lifts the badge by just stopping from 60-0 mph in just 101 feet.

The Maserati Ghibli feels low in terms of fuel economy due to its extra weight and a bigger engine.

All the materials feel top-notch and the Audi S7 offers a true luxury experience on the inside. However, it is not the roomiest cabin and the 2021 model is expected to receive the same without any changes.

2021 Audi S7 Vs Mercedes-AMG CLS 53

Both Audi and Mercedes are German originated brands and both are equally reliable. But the Audi S7 looks more sporty and appealing than the Mercedes. The latter looks like a luxury sedan even though it is equipped with a turbo engine. The performance of the Audi S7 is way more powerful than the Mercedes. Audi does lag behind a bit in terms of acceleration but overall it leads the segment.

Mercedes-AMG CLS 53

2021 Audi S7 Vs Porsche Panamera

Porsche Panamera is quite pricey than the Audi S7. Porsche Panamera carries itself with power when it comes to acceleration and is faster than the rivals. It also provides better fuel economy than S7. But you have to pay more bucks to buy Panamera. At that price, you can get a Prestige trim of Audi S7 with all the premium features.
