Expert Review, Pricing Analysis and Buying Guide

The 2022 Audi e-tron SUV will soon join the racy Audi e-tron GT sedan and the Audi Q4 e-tron SUV to be a part of Audi’s futuristic electric-vehicle lineup for the year 2022. The prices have not been revealed yet, though we presume that they will not make any significant changes. The e-tron is supposed to be a well-spaced and comfortable SUV with the best-integrated safety features, however, is downgraded for its poor road behavior and electric range.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Engine and Performance

The 2022 Audi e-tron SUV will not see any changes inside the hood, as it is powered by the same 95.3-kWh Li-ion battery pack that runs two Dual Coaxial Asynchronous electric motors, on each axle. In total both these motors generate 355 horsepower and up to 414 lb-ft of torque.

The Audi e-tron offers hassle free charging and is equipped along with drive modes that functions as per the demand. You can change between modes while the powerful sport mode generates up to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft of torque. The drive is helped by a Quattro all-wheel-drive system that offers better traction over off-roading conditions, however, the system fails to offer the engagement that comes with gasoline powered engines.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Fuel Economy

Electric SUVs are much more cost friendly to drive but the real problems still remain with the range and charging. The MPGe figures for the 2022 Audi e-tron is not yet released, however we still assume that it will be close to 78 miles on a single charge. The Audi e-tron offers a range of 222 miles, that is lesser than the electric range of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and the electric range of the Jaguar I-Pace.

You can recharge the e-tron even with a domestic connection or at your home using a 240-volt outlet or in public using a Level 2 charging station. The battery gets charged from zero to 100% in about 10.5 hours when plugged to a home connection.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Competition

Audi e-tron Vs. Jaguar I-Pace

Audi e-tron has not been able to prove itself when it competes with others, such as the Jaguar I-Pace. However it only has a good interior space on offer. The Jaguar I-Pace is a mighty electric SUV it however remains behind in the comparison mainly because it lacks a formidable road presence and after sales service. Also, the 80 MPGe in the city on the Jaguar is admirable.

Audi e-tron Vs. Tesla Model X

The Mercedes-Benz EQC offers the best in class luxury on the inside, but when compared to the Audi e-tron, the Mercedes-Benz EQC proves to be much faster and powerful and offers better range. The only place where the Audi e-tron is better is its cargo space, making us favor the EQC.

2022 Audi e-tron electric Final Verdict

The Audi e-tron is comfortable and premium on the inside. It's more practical and slightly more affordable than its direct rivals, and does a great job of soaking up bumps. While its range may not be as good as some of its competitors, at more than 200 miles, it’s sufficient for most drives. However, we would prefer its rivals the Jaguar I-pace and Mercedes-Benz EQC.
