The craze of SUVs is on such a high pitch that even the legendary British carmaker, Aston Martin, known for its exotic sports cars, could not stay out of this segment. Thus, it has created quite a buzz with its DBX. The 2021 Aston Martin DBX might be a new entrant, however coming from Aston Martin will be a big deal for many buyers and so it is expected to shake up the market. Expected to be launched later this year, the 2021 Aston Marton DBX locks its horns with existing rulers like Lamborghini Urus, Land Rover Range Rover SV Autobiography, and Bentley Bentayga.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Features

7.5/10

Since the DBX SUV is all new and fresh, it is available in only one trim as of now. We hope to see it succeeding and bringing more trim options in the future. The expected price for the 2021 Aston Martin DBX is about $190,000. If the situation would have been normal it would already have been on sale!

We hate you Covid-19! So as of now, the sale has been postponed. Over time we predict that the carmaker shall launch more of its trims including a hybrid model and a plugin hybrid model in the DBX line-up. The standard features of the 2021 Aston Martin DBX include the following:

2021 Aston Martin DBX Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

As this SUV is yet to spend a considerable time in the market it is hard to judge its ownership costs and reliability. However, the Aston Martin DBX is not all-new as it borrows many parts from the Vantage even though it is built on its own dedicated platform. The powertrain and the infotainment system is borrowed from Mercedez-Benz which should instill some confidence into its buyer when it comes to reliability.

Reliability and Ownership costs

The car has not got any reliability ratings to count on as of now. The JD Power has however given DB11 a rating of 4.4 out of 5 and that instills confidence about DBX’s reliability as well. Speaking of ownership, this is a new chapter for Aston Martin and ownership costs need at least 5-year data for calculations. It is during this span when you figure out the depreciation, taxes, finance costs, etc. But we know it is expensive to own and maintain an Aston Martin! The range is between $15000-$30000 annually.

The pricing is also going to be different in different US cities. Some cities have destination charges and taxes while others are exempted from taxes. We speculate the pricing range to go above $200,000 if you get additional packages or accessories in cities like New Jersey and California. Cities like Montana that are exempted from taxes might have low prices.

As mentioned above, the Aston Martin DBX has not really spent any time in the US market and hence it is not possible to predict its exact ownership cost. Currently, there is no data about recalls or customer complaints on the NHTSA website about the DBX. However, as the car uses Mercedes-AMG's M177 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine we can say that it will be quite reliable. But, the ownership cost is not going to be even remotely related to the word “cheap”.

In terms of the ownership costs, on average, you will have to shell out nearly $70,180 in 5 years when you buy a brand new Aston Martin DBX SUV. However, these are approximate figures and can be very different from the actual ownership cost.

Warranty

Warranties are essential promises by manufacturers and dealers that relieve you of the stress of repairs/replacements for a specified period of time. When you get a car with a considerable price, warranties become even more important.

Criteria

Period

Basic

3 years or unlimited miles

Corrosion

10 years or unlimited miles

Drivetrain

3 years or unlimited miles

Roadside Assistance

2 years or unlimited miles

So have a look at the available warranty scheme. Once launched, you can also opt for extended warranties at an additional price but it is not going to be a nominal charge.

Miles Per Dollar

Aston Martin DBX owners will be able to go up to 6 miles for a dollar. With a full tank of 19.7 gallons, the DBX can last for 335 miles which is quite acceptable considering its size.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Buying Advice

Well, you do not have trim options for the 2021 Aston Martin DBX to choose from but you do have a wide variety of packages to choose from. Get a pet pack for your dog or a field sports pack to enjoy the most adventurous trip of your life like a boss!

Is buying a used DBX a good idea?

Since it is new to the market, it is too soon to advise on that. From previous records, we know that the resale value for Aston Martin is pretty low so you will get it at a good low price. The maintenance can be expensive though.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Engine and Performance

9.0/10

In 2013, Aston Martin had a deal with Mercedes-AMG where AMG agreed to supply its V8 for Aston Martin’s Vantage and DBX. So it uses the V8 sourced from AMG and this 4.0L engine manages to churn out 542 horsepower and 516 cubic feet of torque. The engine is coupled to a 9-speed automatic transmission which gives a wider gear ratio and better fuel economy and performance. However, if we compare this all-wheel-drive SUV with other adversaries, the output figures for DBX are the lowest.

2021 Aston Martin DBX SUV has a 4.0L V8 turbocharged engine

The 2021 Aston Martin DBX has been engineered for perfection. The aluminum body structure keeps things light for it and helps in maintaining stability. Since this SUV is also supposed to be sporty, it has used carbon-fiber one-piece prop-shaft technology which is inspired by other sports cars. The stiffness has been increased for the best results.

Torque distribution is brilliant because of the all-wheel-drive and so are the off-roading capabilities. Steering is responsive and wins your faith. Driving and handling DBX SUV is easy-peasy and enjoying the rides is easier! However, the upcoming Lamborghini Urus is expected to rule the game with an expected horsepower of 641!

2021 Aston Martin DBX SUV Acceleration and Braking Performance

In the case of DBX, the acceleration takes a little more time than the rivals to throw you back in seats! The car takes 4.3 seconds to change its velocity from zero to 60mph and has a top speed of 181mph. A quarter-mile is covered in 11.7 seconds. Again, the Lamborghini is a clear winner here followed by Bentley.

2021 Aston Martin DBX SUV Accelerate 0-60 MPH in 4.3 sec

Hence, the DBX is not the ultimate performance machine if you compare it to the Urus, but the Urus is more expensive than the DBX which justifies its extra performance. In many test reviews and drives, the DBX has been praised for its capability to deaccelerate rather than accelerate.

The Aston Martin DBX features big enough brakes to give it excellent braking, though the exact measurement on inches is not available as of now. The car has been launched after years of research and testing and so you can trust the braking performance.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Ride & Handling

The 2021 Aston Martin DBX is as impressive in terms of the ride as it is a piece of beauty. The air suspension setup of the new DBX can raise and lower the car, as required for the driving conditions. On the freeways, the 2021 DBX feels very planted and promotes a lot of confidence to the driver. The torque can be managed between all the wheels, so as to power is available all the time during the drive.

The DBX might be British Carmaker's first take on the SUV segment, however, handling and driving dynamics are no strange topics to Aston Martin. For quite some decades now, Aston Martin has given us some of the best handling cars to date and the 2021 Aston Martin DBX follows in the same footsteps. At low speeds, the DBX feels very agile and as you get closer to the limit, the 2021 DBX becomes even sharper.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Fuel Economy

5.0/10

If you are concerned about how your car will travel for every gallon of fuel, then Aston Martin DBX will not disappoint you with its scorecard. You can drive 18 miles in the city per gallon, 24 miles on the highway and that together give you a combined average of 17. The vehicle has the smallest fuel tank (19.7 gallons) yet the best fuel-efficiency. Thus, the DBX strikes a perfect balance between performance and frugality especially if you compare it to its current rivals.

As compared to the rivals, the 2021 Aston Martin DBX is one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the segment. With a combined mileage of 17 miles to the gallon, the DBX proves to be more efficient on the freeways. The Lamborghini Urus proves to be the least efficient in terms of mpg, with a combined average of 14 mpg.

8.5/10

The interior of the 2021 Aston Martin DBX is a work of art as they say! You’ll want to hug the sports seats already hugged by leather! The soft-touch materials are worth the drooling expression. The use of metals and wood inserts has been done very thoughtfully. The cabin brings a serene smile to your lips and clears all creases on your forehead! You just lie back on the heated and cooled seats and make the best use of the entertainment features it offers.

Apart from that, it floods you with optional packages and accessories that you will absolutely adore. For example, there is an optional bike pack, adventure pack, snowpack, pet pack, and even a field sports pack. You can get ‘Wool fabric’ seats as well! You read that right!  Aston Martin has also positioned a Female Advisory board for “instant familiarity for the driver”, as quoted by the company.

So you travel or drive hassle-free. It has all the urban technological features you can possibly think of- HD radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Hotspot, and MP3 player.

Intelligence will never stop being beautiful! Aston Martin has one intelligent team to make sure that you identify the 2021 Aston Martin DBX as a drop-dead gorgeous Martin car from a distance and yet do not take your eyes off because of its unique elements. So it flaunts the DB signature grille and frameless doors by the company but is a little taller and features a coupe-like roof.

The company has done its homework well and has come with improved aerodynamics as well. A portion of the chassis is integrated with some ducts to allow brakes to cool faster. The 2021 Aston Martin DBX follows a similar body style as its other siblings and the proportions of the 2021 DBX are however pleasing.

LED headlights and taillights are sleek and the LED daytime running lights have been placed attractively and just at the right place. The taillights create a lightbar design which again stands out from the other SUV crowd. The Aston Martin lettering at the front center announces its bold styling. Sheer brilliance! Talking of dimensions, while it is heavier than Lamborg, the curb weight (4949 lbs) is less than that of Range Rover or Bentayga.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Competition

2021 Aston Martin DBX Vs 2021 Lamborghini Urus

Urus is ferocious while DBX is gracious. That is the major highlight difference between the two, be it outside, inside, or even on the road! The exterior and interior styling is assertive for Urus and it is sportier than the DBX. Aston Martin is a style statement inside and out, It uses the best of materials and is more of a relaxed family car.

Lamborghini Urus

The output figures and sprinting performance speak in favor of Urus but the fuel efficiency is a bummer. That's about the differences. You'll have to decide if you are seeking blood racing feels (you will love Lamborg) or a high-class feel with a pinch of sportiness (DBX it is!).

2021 Aston Martin DBX Vs 2021 Land Rover Range Rover SV Autobiography

The Range Rover SVAutobiography is again a top-tier trim with beasty qualities and a sumptuous atmosphere on the inside. It has excellent off-roading capabilities, towing capacity, and cargo capacity. It produces more power and similar torque as compared to DBX.

Land Rover Range Rover SV Autobiography

But then it accelerates slower and delivers fewer miles per gallon. Aston Martin is more classy and comfortable. You can listen to your final inner calling after having a test drive.

2021 Aston Martin DBX Vs 2021 Bentley Bentayga

While the basic model of Bentley starts at a lower price than Aston Martin, we have here compared it with top-tier trim. So that is a costlier version. Both are lavish and practical cars with good cabin space. Note that, Bentley brought SUVs years back and DBX SUV is all new so it is more modern on the inside.

Bentley Bentayga

But then Bentley gives you powertrain options and in fact, also has a hybrid powertrain option. The beasty Bentayga delivers more output and acceleration than the DBX. We join the Bentley team here since it is more of an all-rounder!

2021 Aston Martin DBX Final Verdict

If you wish to treat yourself to some handcrafted British luxury and also enjoy the benefits of an SUV, the 2021 Aston Martin DBX is the one for you. It has innate performance capabilities of Aston Martin, is elegance personified, and uses state-of-the-art technology. It is your everyday family car and also your sporty adventure partner in crime. The price tag is justified too. It has come all well-prepared to the market and does not seem like a naive newcomer. The rivals better need to be prepared for some serious head to head competition. The 2021 Aston Martin DBX SUV will be totally worth your time and money.
